PLO Official Angered by Obama’s Recognition of Jewish History

Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi attacks Obama’s speech for ‘adopting Zionist discourse’ in his approach to Israel-Arab conflict.

By Israel Today Staff

One of Israel’s chief conditions for a genuine peace deal is that the Arabs acknowledge the Jewish people’s historical connection to this land.

Arguments can be made regarding who rightly controls which areas today, but these disputes can only be resolved peacefully if the Arabs accept that the Jews are not a foreign invader. At least, that’s how Israeli officials view the situation.

Last week, Israel’s “partners” in the Palestinian Authority again signaled they are not prepared to move beyond this obstacle to peace. Continue Reading »

Watch: With Flawed Logic PA Charges Israel of ‘Same Terror’ as Al Qaeda’s 9/11

Devoid of logic and common sense, the PA TV runs an anti-Israel Propaganda ad juxtaposing IDF strike on Gaza terror building and Al Qaeda’s terrorism in New York.

By Ari Yashar

The Palestinian Authority (PA) official TV channel has launched a particularly factually indefensible ad campaign against the IDF, accusing it in Operation Protective Edge of committing “terror” comparable to the September 11, 2011 (9/11) World Trade Center attack.

The ad was aired several times on PA TV News during the past week according to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), which translated it. In the ad, a split screen shows the Al Qaeda terrorists ramming a plane into the iconic New York buildings, alongside the IDF airstrike last Monday on a 12-story Gaza building used by Hamas terrorists. Australian MPs Outraged at Local ‘Pallywood’ Attempt at Deceptions About Gaza

In an email to Australian MPs that attacked Israel’s ‘Operation Protective Edge’, the activist group ‘Australians for Palestine’, has prompted outrage & disgust by misrepresenting an image of killed Syrian children as young Palestinian victims from the conflict in Gaza.

By CHRISTIAN KERR, The Australian

The group, Australians for Palestine, whose August 10 email compared those killed in Gaza to victims of the Holocaust, has declined to correct the error or apologize, even after the deceptive use of the image was exposed.

Politicians, the UN’s & Mainstream Media’s Egregious Misrepresentations in the Gaza Conflict

Getting the law right on the Israel-Gaza conflict is not the problem. Like most laws, it’s quite clear. Unfortunately, most of the journalists covering the current conflict are either threatened/intimidated from reporting the truth, emotionally invested in one side or the other, or will simply explain away Hamas’ daily war-crimes as rightful ‘resistance’.

By Laurie R. Blank, THE HILL/contributor

International law has quite a lot to say about the latest violence that has flared up between Israel and Hamas. So do the media. Unfortunately, they rarely match, leading to unfortunate — and sometimes egregious — misrepresentations. In an age when both real and perceived violations of international law have a substantial effect on the legitimacy of state action, getting it wrong is way more than just bad journalism. The magazine deleted the allegations from a two-minute video on its website about the Israel Defense Forces, writing at the end, “Correction: The original version of this video cited a contested allegation in a 2009 Swedish newspaper report as fact. The allegation has been removed from the video.”

The video (Below), titled “The IDF: A look inside Israel’s powerful military,” said the “IDF is not without controversy,” reporting that “in 2009 a Swedish report came out exposing some Israeli troops of selling organs of Palestinians who died in their custody.”

Turkey’s Erdogan spews more hate: Israel “surpassed Hitler in barbarism”

Joining Turkey, another of Israel’s foes, Venezuela condemns Israeli ‘genocide’ & ‘extermination’ in Gaza, in latest round of int’l condemnations.

By Reuters

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel on Saturday of having “surpassed Hitler in barbarism” through its attacks on Gaza, but warned Turks against taking out their anger on the country’s Jewish community.

Erdogan continued to ratchet up his rhetoric against the Jewish State over its offensive, threatening to further harm to already badly frayed relations between the two countries, once regional allies.

Meanwhile, Venezuela’s socialist government condemned Israeli strikes in Gaza on Saturday as a policy of genocide that could not be justified as like-for-like warfare. Continue Reading »

Hundreds of ‘Lefty Brits’ protest BBC’s ‘pro-Israel’ coverage of #OperationProtectiveEdge

British leftists protest broadcaster’s idea of balance, ‘airbrushing’ out Israel’s preexisting military control of Gaza, and the imbalance of power between the sides.

The BBC is widely believed in Israel to be biased in favor of the Palestinians. Yet in Britain, which can fairly be called the nerve center of Western pro-Palestinian sentiment, hundreds of left-wingers have protested in recent days over what they call the state broadcaster’s pro-Israel bias in its coverage of the fighting with Gaza.

Many of the images that supposedly show Gaza under bombardment over the past week are neither current nor from Gaza, the global news organization wrote.

“Some of the images are of the current situation in Gaza,” the BBC said, “but a #BBCtrending analysis has found that some date as far back as 2009 and others are from conflicts in Syria and Iraq.” Continue Reading »

Palestinians Manipulate the Press to Play the Victim Again

Though Israelis are portrayed in the int’l media as the bullies of the Middle East, the kidnapping & ongoing rocket attacks into southern Israel from Gaza demonstrate that it is Israel that is under siege from its hostile Arab neighbors, not Gaza or the West Bank.

By: Jonathan S. Tobin

More than one week into the search for the three Israeli teenagers who were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, the Palestinians have gone beyond mocking the boys and their families on social media with their three-fingered salute taunt. They are now attempting to use the Israel Defense Forces’ search operation as an excuse to turn the tables on the Jewish state. Continue Reading »

However, instead of classrooms and swimming lessons, the camp boasts military training facilities and uniform-clad children and teens.

The terror camp will host roughly 100,000 children aged 12-16 for seven days a week, three hours a day, Al-Monitor reported. The kids don camouflage fatigues and green berets, and are instructed by some forty members of Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Continue Reading »

Why is California Paying for Bash-Israel Events?

The illegal use of university funds for leftist activism takes place on many American campuses, but  few places possess the commitment to anti-Israel activism that SFSU does.

By Prof. Abraham H. Miller

On Tuesday, June 17, Tammi Benjamin of the Amcha Initative, a group that defends Jewish students on California’s campuses against the growing surge of campus anti-Semitism, wrote to the Los Angeles City Council in support of a bill to protect Jewish students from harassment and intimidation.

NY Met reconsiders, cancels anti-Semitic broadcast Klinghoffer opera

Critics say the broadcast “The Death of Klinghoffer” glorifies murder & terrorists, centers on the death of an American Jew at the hands of Palestinian militants is an anti-Jewish and anti-Israel opera.

The New York Metropolitan Opera announced Tuesday that it had canceled plans to broadcast the opera “The Death of Klinghoffer,” following an outpouring of criticism that the opera glorifies murder and could fan global anti-Semitism.

While 69 year old disabled World War II Veteran Leon Klinghoffer sat in his wheelchair aboard the Achilles Lauro cruise ship on October 7, 1985, four Palestinian terrorists shot him in the head and threw him overboard as his wife watched in horror. Leon and Marilyn Klinghoffer had been celebrating their wedding anniversary by taking this cruise.

The church’s biennial General Assembly, which is currently meeting in Detroit, has on its agenda eight resolutions dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Activists want the church and its institutions to use their investment dollars to punish Israel over its treatment of the Palestinians, such as by withdrawing investments from companies whose products are used by the Israeli government in the Palestinian territories.
