Reports have surfaced in recent days, both from Israeli and Palestinian sources, that Hamas has accelerated its construction of hidden attack tunnels. Jerusalem approves extending Israel’s border fence onto its Jordanian border

The Jewish State’s fortified fence along Egypt’s border to be expanded as gov’t fears armed militants and/or illegal immigrants may exploit the porous border.

>Israel’s security cabinet has approved extending the fortified fence along its Egyptian border into a section of the frontier with neighboring Jordan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.

Jordan and Israel closely coordinate security for their 240 km (150 mile)-long border as well as for the strategic 95 km (60 mile)-long Jordan Valley within the West Bank.


But the Netanyahu government worries that African immigrants and armed jihadi infiltrators might try to reach Israel via Jordan after the Egyptian Sinai border was fenced off with a 5 meter (16 foot)-high razor-wire barrier in 2013.

A serious security mishap occurred on Saturday morning, as two people succeeded in breaching the Israeli border from Jordan despite IDF preparations, in an incident raising fears about the possibility of foreign terrorists freely infiltrating into the Jewish state.

IDF trackers were dispatched as soon as the breach was identified, reports Walla!, and at the scene they found footprints leading to Highway 90 between Grofit and Yotvata in the Arava region of the Negev to the north of Eilat, in an area just to the east of Ovda Airport.

Residents from Israel’s border communities angered by NIS 70m. security cutback

 

Disagreement between Public Security Ministry and the Defense Ministry will leave dozens of communities on Israel’s border without a security budget beginning January 1.

A NIS 70 million cut to the security budget for 50 Israeli border communities will go into effect on December 31, leaving problems with the border fence unsolved, removing arms from military warehouses, and hindering the ability of security coordinators to monitor the border 7 days a week, Ynet learned on Thursday, while the Defense Ministry and Public Security Ministry both say the matter does not fall under their responsibility.

Damage to the kibbutz’s security fence will be left unfixed after the budget cut comes into effect.

Hamas Claims IDF Wounded 2 Gazans in Separate Clashes

Israeli army spokesperson unit confirms IDF troops fired at a man in Gaza approaching the security fence with Israel, but not aware of other incident.

Hamas officials say two men were wounded in separate clashes with the IDF Saturday.

Gaza’s healthy ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra claimed a 16-year-old youth was shot near the security barrier with Israel in Khan Yunis, according to AFP.

He also claimed a 36-year-old fisherman was shot while he was aboard his boat in the Mediterranean off Gaza City.  

The IDF said it was not aware of the two incidents in question, but did say troops had opened fire at a Palestinian man who was approaching the security barrier on foot. Continue Reading »

IDF Capture 2 Terror Suspects Crossing Gaza Fence

The 2 Palestinians caught by the IDF after they breached the security fence to sneak into Israel, are now held during investigation.

The border with Gaza remains turbulent. On Friday, two local Arabs were captured by the IDF after they breached the Gaza security fence.

The two were heading towards Israel for intents that remain unclear. They have been taken for investigation by security forces.

IDF forces discovered two explosives planted against the security fence just this Tuesday, during routine activities in the area. The explosives were neutralized without causing any damage or injuries.

Arab Terrorist Shot Dead by IDF While Breaching Security Fence

19 yr-old reported by IDF as being killed by gunfire while sabotaging security fence with 2 others near Hevron in Judea.

IDF soldiers reportedly shot and killed a local Arab resident near Hevron on Wednesday, as he attempted to breach Israel’s security fence with two accomplices.

“Earlier today three suspects sabotaged the security fence in Deir al-Asal al-Tahta, southwest of Hevron,” an IDF spokeswoman told AFP. After the three ignored soldiers’ warnings to leave, as well as warning shots in the air, soldiers “fired towards the lower extremities of the main instigator.”

The man was evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva in critical condition, but died of his wounds shortly thereafter. Continue Reading »

Israeli defense firm to help secure US border with Mexico

Israeli defense firm Elbit wins $145 million contract to build surveillance towers along Arizona’s border with Mexico.

The Israeli defense company Elbit Systems confirmed on Wednesday that they had received a $145 million contract by the United States Department of Homeland Security to build security towers on Arizona’s border with Mexico.

The company wrote in a press release on their website that the “Integrated Fixed Tower Project” would be implemented “over an approximately 12-month period.”

The work, which will apparently include cameras and radars with the capability to detect human movement, will be carried out by Elbit Systems of America, which is the company’s US subsidiary. Continue Reading »

Palestinian sources said that one man was killed and another wounded in the incident.

An army spokeswoman said a group of suspects entered the zone and began sabotaging the security fence, and that soldiers dispatched to the area attempted to persuade them to leave.

Civilian worker shot by Palestinian sniper from inside Gaza

Civilian IDF contractor, fixing Gaza-Israel border’s security fence was shot by a Gaza sniper.

He was evacuated to Be’er Sheva’s Soroka Hospital.

A civilian worker for the IDF was shot by sniper fire near Gaza, where he was working between Nachal Oz and Kfar Aza. The worker was evacuated to Be’er Sheva’s Soroka Hospital.

The worker was fixing the security fence that was revealed to have holes and damage in it, caused by the recent snow and rainstorm. Soldiers have reported that repairs have been slow or non-existent, creating a security threat.

2nd Gaza Terror Attempt Foiled by IDF, In 2 Days

Another Palestinian terrorist wounded whilst placing explosive on Israel’s security fence with Gaza.

This incident comes just one day after previous clash left one Gaza terrorist dead.

IDF forces foiled a terror attempt from Gaza on Saturday, shooting and wounding a 22 year old terrorist who was trying to place an explosive on the border.

According to the IDF: “this morning terrorists attempted to conceal an explosive device in order to attack IDF soldiers who operate in the proximity of the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip.”

Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesmen for terrorist organization Hamas’s emergency services, told AFP the terrorist was shot east of the Gaza town of Khan Yunis and moderately injured. Continue Reading »

Netanyahu tours Egyptian border, heralds completion of security fence

PM  Netanyahu says security fence has achieved primary objectives of stopping the flood of African migrants and defending Israel from Sinai terrorists.

 

“There has not been an engineering feat this large since the days of Herod,” said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on tour of the 4.7- meter-tall, 242-kilometer-long fence going up along the Egyptian border.
