Syrian teen turns to Israeli court to remain after recovery in hospital

 

Female Syrian teenager who was injured and later treated in an Israeli hospital, claims returning to Syria would risk her life, and relatives in another Arabic country are prepared to take her in.

A Syrian teenager who has been hospitalized at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa has filed a petition with the High Court of Justice in recent days requesting to not send her back to her country.

Soldiers and Border Police found a large weapons cache in an operation in a Palestinian town in the “seam zone” – the area located east of the 1949 armistice line, and to the west of the Judea and Samaria security barrier.

Economic Minster Bennett: Independent Palestinian state likely to ‘wreck Israel’s economy’

The creation of a Palestinian state would destroy the Israeli economy, causing infinitely more problems than an economic boycott would, said Economy Minster Naftali Bennett on Monday, responding to the threat of sanctions if Israel fails to reach an agreement with the Palestinians.

Second Israeli Astronaut Set to be Shot Into Space

Report from Jerusalem says Israeli Space Agency is coordinating with he US to have an Israeli astronaut sent to space, 1st one since Ilan Ramon’s tragic death in ’03.

On Tuesday reports surfaced indicating that Israel is intending to send another astronaut into space, the second since Ilan Ramon tragically died in the Space Shuttle Columbia accident in 2003.

Reshet Bet reported that the Israeli Space Agency is managing advanced talks with several space agencies to send another Israeli astronaut into space. The astronaut would likely go to the International Space Station (ISS) according to reports.

However, in January 2013, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said while visiting Israel that although there was a good chance of another Israeli astronaut, he didn’t think an Israeli could be sent to ISS because the country is not a participant in the program. Continue Reading »

Sinai Salafists Responsible for Yesterday’s Rocket Attack on Eilat

The Sinai-based jihadi group, Ansar Bayt al-Makdis, declares that ‘the Jews will only see injury from us.’

The Long War Journal reports Tuesday that a Sinai-based Salafist group has claimed responsibility for Monday’s rocket fire on Eilat.

The jihadist group, named Ansar Jerusalem or Ansar Bayt al Makdis, posted on Gaza based social media a statement boasting the attack.

“Our war with the enemy in Egypt has not dissuaded us from the war against the first enemy of our nation,” the statement claims. “With Allah’s help, the Jews will only see injury from us.”

The organization is believed to be the most prominent group operating against the Egyptian army in recent months. Continue Reading »

Rockets fired on Eilat from the Sinai

Last strike on Eilat occurred in August, when Iron Dome intercepted rockets.

 

Two rockets were fired at the southern Israeli city of Eilat on Monday evening, apparently from the Sinai Peninsula.

Police forces began combing the city shortly after the blasts were heard, at around 7 P.M., and located one of the projectiles in an open area near the entrance to the city.

An Iron Dome anti-missile battery intercepted a rocket targeting Eilat in August, marking the first time the Iron Dome system a rocket has been shot down over the southern resort city. Continue Reading »

ROME – Should Pope Francis decide to open the secret Vatican archives regarding the World War II pontificate of Pope Pius XII, it could still take another year and a half before the thousands of documents in question are fully cataloged.
