1,200 academics charge BDS ‘violates the very principle of academic freedom’

1,200 academics challenge boycott of Israel by signing petition that charges BDS being unfairly prejudice and for stifling academic freedoms.

After upward of 350 anthropologists from around the world have endorsed a boycott of Israel and its academic institutions, some 1,200 academics signed a pro-Israeli petition calling to oppose such measures.

“We, the undersigned academics, (faculty, full time and part time, academic staff including librarians, researchers, post doctorates, technicians and technologists, administrators, and trustees) vigorously support free speech and free debate but we oppose faculty or student boycotts of Israel’s academic institutions, scholars and students,” reads the petition, posted on the website of the Faculty for Academic Freedom. Trilateral water swapping arrangements signed by Jordan, Palestinians & Israel

A major trilateral water understanding signed by Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian parties in December is moving forward slowly but surely – as tender preparations for an Aqaba desalination facility begin to materialize, high level Israeli sources told The Jerusalem Post last week.

Three Palestinians arrested for animal cruelty, torturing endangered hyena

 

Palestinians arrested for violently abusing a striped hyena, an endangered species, after ostentatiously posting a self-incriminating video to the internet.

Three Palestinians have been arrested for allegedly abusing a striped hyena, the police said, after an IDF patrol caught two of them with wounded animal and connected a third to the incident through a video posted online.

At 71, the twins from Amsterdam also paint, think often about the Holocaust and attend synagogue on Jewish holidays.

But the Fokkens are not like most Jewish grandmothers.

For one thing, they recently retired after 50 years of working as prostitutes in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

Jordan Condemns Israel for Police Response to Riots on Temple Mount

Jordan condemns the conduct of Israel Police personnel who responded to Arab rioters on the Temple Mount.

Hours after Arab rioters attacked Israeli security forces at the Temple Mount, Jordan criticized Israel on Wednesday over security forces’ conduct in reaction to the riots.

“The forces of the occupation … prevented religious officials entering (the compound) and cleared it of all Muslims, while at the same time enabling Jewish extremists to storm it, and pray with security forces protection,” government spokesman Mohammed Momeni said in a statement quoted by the AFP news agency.

He called on Israel to “stop its devastating campaign against the Al-Aqsa mosque, religious officials and worshippers,” slamming “police… firing bullets and bombs inside the compound, which injured dozens of people.” Continue Reading »

Police forces drive Arab assailants into Al-Aqsa Mosque then lock them inside after the rioters threw rocks, metal rods and Molotov cocktails.

Dozens of veiled rioters hurled stones and fireworks at police officers Wednesday morning on the Temple Mount. A police force entered the compound and pushed the assailants back into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex; four officers were wounded and were treated by medics on location.

They emerge at night, while we sleep unaware, growing and spreading out as quickly as they can. And they are deadly.

It turns out tumors spread faster at night time, Weizmann Institute of Science researchers showed in findings recently published in Nature Communications, suggesting that it would be better to deliver cancer treatments in the wee hours of the night.
