BDS victory [sic] facilitated loss of 500 Palestinian workers at SodaStream

Hundreds of Palestinian workers are now unemployed after the factory where they worked, in an Israeli community beyond the Green Line, was targeted by an international boycott movement and forced to move to inside Israel, the company’s chief executive said Monday.

Five Chinese Jews make Aliyah after millennia in exile

In the first Aliyah from the ancient Chinese Jewish community of Kaifeng in the last seven years, five women from the community are scheduled to arrive in Israel next Monday, returning to the Jewish homeland after thousands of years of exile.

The women, Gao Yichen (“Weiwei”), Yue Ting, Li Jing, Li Yuan, and Li Chengjin (“Lulu”), have been intensively studying Hebrew and Judaism for the last several years in Kaifeng to reconnect to their Jewish roots, and are now being brought back home by the Jerusalem-based nonprofit Shavei Israel. February 25, 1799: Napoleon Entered the Holy Land Promising to Reconstitute Jewish Homeland

February 25, 1799, French leader Napoleon Bonaparte captured Gaza, subsequently moving north along the coastal plain and defeating Ottoman governor Jazzar Pasha’s troops at Jaffa and Haifa, before retreating back to Egypt after the siege on Acre.

The online Jewish Virtual Library wrote that following the campaign in the Ottoman-ruled territory, the official newspaper of the French government “Le Moniteur Universel” published a manifesto declaring that Napoleon had promised that all Jews would be able to return to their homeland, in the ancient territory of the Israelites. The UN envoy for the Middle East peace process on Thursday blasted Israeli “settlements” as being an obstacle to peace.

The envoy, Nickolay Mladenov, made the comments in an address to the Security Council today in which he urged both Israel and the PA to end the long-standing conflict.

According to a UN statement, Mladenov painted a troubling picture of the situation in the region and said that the conflict has now arrived at “a pivotal point.” Continue Reading »

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled in an international aviation exhibition in Singapore this week new “Roamer” class missiles that look like an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), but are in fact missiles that hover in the air until they lock on their targets, then collide with and destroy them.

VIDEO: Israel’s ‘Seagull’ ANV tracks submarines and locates underwater mines

An unmanned watercraft code-named the “Seagull” was unveiled by Elbit Systems on Monday afternoon in a demonstration that took place in the gulf of Haifa.

According to Elbit, the innovative watercraft operates autonomously and can perform a number of security related tasks, including submarine detection and underwater explosive ordinance detection and removal. Additionally, the “Seagull” can be used for patrols, electronic warfare, and underwater topographical surveys.

The vessel is 40 feet long and has the ability to operate continuously for 96 hours, and can carry out missions in a safer and more effective manner than can be done with other manned vessels. Continue Reading »

Certificates of merit were presented at the ceremony to the winning military units in various categories, including: brigades, battalions, reserve units, training units, combat support units and technology units.
