In European precedent, Germany rules BDS is antisemitic movement

The German Bundestag’s vote on Friday makes Germany the first country in the European Union to rule that the BDS movement is antisemitic, making no attempt to build coexistence or peace between Israel and its neighbors.

In a landmark vote the German Bundestag ruled on Friday that the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is antisemitic, calling on German Federal offices and bodies not to collaborate in any way with events that advocate to boycott or delegitimize the Jewish state.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the Bundestag on its “important decision to recognize BDS as an anti-Semitic movement and that it is forbidden to support it.”  Continue Reading »

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday called on President Donald Trump and the Republicans to apologize to congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for “misrepresenting” her comments on Israel and the Holocaust.

Corbyn’s Labour Party ignored or interfered in most reports of antisemitism

Jeremy Corbyn’s office actively interfered, delayed or outright ignored most of the 863 reported cases of hate-filled antisemitism within his party, rendering only 30 suspensions, less than 3.5%.
– Examples include posts of “Heil Hitler,” Jewish MPs being accused of being “Zionist infiltrators,” and blaming Israeli Jews for the 9/11 attacks.

U.S. Muslim think-tank member condemns Rep. Omar for antisemitism

WATCH:  A Muslim member of the Council of Foreign Relations, a U.S. based think-tank believes Rep. Omar should be ejected from the House of Foreign Affairs Committee immediately because anything that the Minnesota Representative now proposes can be “interpreted through the lens of antisemitism.”

World leaders fuming over Abbas vile antisemitism, even UN, EU, Sweden

Even Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s diplomatic friends condemned him.

Friends and foes alike blasted Abbas as an “antisemite” and a “Holocaust denier,” after he charged that the Nazis killed Jews in the Holocaust because they were money lenders.

Austrian Students’ Union rejects BDS campaign as ‘Antisemitic Boycott of Israel’

The anti-BDS resolution, passed by the Austrian National Union of Students, was nearly unanimous with no opposing votes and only a single abstention to the pledge ‘never to remain silent when antisemitism appears.’

The Austrian National Union of Students passed on Friday a motion against BDS, saying that the boycott movement targeting Israel is antisemitic, and that its demands recall the Nazis’ economic war against Jewish businesses.

It is believed to be the first time an Austrian national student union has passed such a resolution.

Celebrated United Arab Emirates cleric, claims Al-Jazeera is ‘weapon of the Jews’

 

The UAE cleric also accused the late Israeli president and prime minister Shimon Peres, of controlling Al-Jazeera by working ‘hand in hand’ with the Qatar-based network.

Prominent United Arab Emirates cleric, Wassim Yousuf, slammed the Qatar-based news outlet Al-Jazeera in a TV interview last month, accusing it of being supported by Israel and a “weapon of the Jews.”

The statement comes amid a diplomatic crisis with Qatar and Arab Gulf states, who shut-down the network following a total blockade of the country for its alleged ties with extremists.

In the latest string of accusations against the news outlet, Yousuf claimed on Abu Dhabi TV that Al-Jazeera was being controlled by Israel, and more specifically worked “hand in hand” with Israel’s late president and former Prime Minister Shimon Peres, reported the Times of Israel on Saturday. Major #BDSfail: British universities cancel ‘Apartheid Week’

 

In a blow to the BDS movement, 2 UK universities cancel the events of the anti-Israel ‘Apartheid Week’ based on Britain’s recently adopted definition of anti-Semitism, that includes incitement against Jews by demonizing Israel.

The University of Central Lancashire and University College London in Britain were forced to cancel the Israel Apartheid Week events, which were supposed to take place next week, following the intervention of Friends of Israel associations in the UK.

The cancellation of these events is part of the struggle against the Israel boycott movement on campuses.

UK follows US interpretation of ‘antisemitism’ in new pro-Israel policy

 

In following America’s lead, Britain’s new definition of antisemitism looks like the UK is returning to its overtly pro-Israel policies of years long gone.

The love-hate relationship between the UK and Israel is well known.

One could dwell on the many setbacks of British policy toward the Jewish state. The 1937 partition plan proposed by the Peel Commission, the infamous 1939 White Paper that restricted Jewish immigration to mandatory Palestine, and the present anti-Israel vitriolic from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

These are sufficient examples of British hate toward the Israel.

But Britain has another side, the one that has produced the 1917 Balfour Declaration that proved foundational to the rebirth of the Jewish state. Continue Reading »
