Netanyahu approves Defense budget which includes possible Iran strike funds

After Netanyahu orders IDF to continue preparing possible strike on Iran as Ministry of Defense allocates budget for preparations to deal with Iranian nuclear facilities

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon have instructed the army to continue preparations for a possible military operation in Iran, Israeli daily Haaretz reported Wednesday.

According to information leaked from hearings on Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) financial planning for 2014, 10 to 12 billion NIS of the IDF’s annual budget are to be allocated to the preparations, similar to last year’s sum.

Arab Terrorist Shot Dead by IDF While Breaching Security Fence

19 yr-old reported by IDF as being killed by gunfire while sabotaging security fence with 2 others near Hevron in Judea.

IDF soldiers reportedly shot and killed a local Arab resident near Hevron on Wednesday, as he attempted to breach Israel’s security fence with two accomplices.

“Earlier today three suspects sabotaged the security fence in Deir al-Asal al-Tahta, southwest of Hevron,” an IDF spokeswoman told AFP. After the three ignored soldiers’ warnings to leave, as well as warning shots in the air, soldiers “fired towards the lower extremities of the main instigator.”

The man was evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva in critical condition, but died of his wounds shortly thereafter. Continue Reading »

IDF makes deal to remove Palestinian flag from Hebron roof

 

Arab resident says he agreed after IDF officer promised to release young neighbor that was arrested for throwing stones.

 

 

Israeli soldiers turned up for the second time on Saturday at a home in Hebron to order the removal of a Palestinian flag, even though the Israel Defense Forces said last week there is no policy against displaying flags.

Iran’s defense minister on Saturday commended Palestinian organizations in the Gaza Strip for firing dozens of rockets into southern Israel last week, stating that  “the operational power of the Resistance against the Zionist regime is a thousand times more than what it was before.”

IDF Opens Fire on Terror Suspects On Lebanese Border with Israel

On same day Lebanese gov’t gives its citizens free hand against Israel, suspects suspiciously approach border, but then quickly flee from IDF gunfire.

IDF soldiers fired at suspected terrorists who approached the Israeli-Lebanese border on Saturday.

“A certain number of suspects approached the Israel-Lebanon border. Soldiers fired in the air to warn them away, and they moved off,” reported an IDF spokeswoman, adding that no one was injured in the exchange.

A local Arab resident claimed to AFP that the suspects who approached the fence were shepherds who neared the border “by mistake.”

The incident follows an intense day Friday, in which terrorists set an explosive on the border, detonating it near an IDF border patrol. Continue Reading »

The shell landed in an open area in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. No injuries were reported.

Gazan militant groups said the Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip overnight hit a Hamas militant base, another site tied to the Popular Resistance Committees and a Palestinian National Security Forces position, all in the city of Rafah near the Egyptian border.

Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces spread a false story on Tuesday, claiming to AFP that IDF forces had opened fire on a car driven by Arab residents near the western Samaria town of Tulkarem, killing one. The death turned out to have simply been a traffic accident.

The initial report claimed IDF bullets or a car crash resulting from the “shooting” killed the driver and injured the passenger. It added that the car veered off the road as a result of gunfire. Continue Reading »

An IDF force lying in ambush shot dead an Arab terrorist who was preparing to throw rocks at Israeli cars traveling on Road 60, north of Jerusalem. The incident took place near Givat Asaf, in the Binyamin region, on Monday evening.

The ambush was placed following an uptick in the number of similar attacks as of late. It is too early to say whether it signals a change in IDF policy toward rock throwers, but the military action appears to be a departure from the policy of the last few years, which has been marked by extreme hesitance to use deadly force against rock and firebomb throwers. REPORT: U.S. State Dept. denies visas to Israeli defense officials

The United States is denying visa requests from Israeli military, defense establishment and intelligence officials, according to a report in Maariv.

Israeli defense establishment officials have discussed the matter in private meetings, after noticing a pattern emerging: Hundreds of individuals with ties to Israel’s defense establishment have been denied entry to the U.S. in the past year, or have been allowed in for only three months, according to the report.
