Report: Herzog capitulates to Palestinians under signed secret agreement

Opposition leader and Zionist Union chief Isaac Herzog agreed to far reaching concessions on the eve of the 2015 election, a report by Channel 10 on Sunday revealed.

The United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Jordan are planning for a post-Mahmoud Abbas era in the Palestinian Authority, which would leave Abbas’s arch-rival Mohammed Dahlan in control of the PA, the Middle East Eye website exposed on Friday.

PA leader, Mahmoud Abbas whose presidential term ended 6 years ago, allegedly dismissed Akram Rajoub, the governor of Nablus after posting on his Facebook page criticism of Abbas’ leadership.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued on Tuesday a surprising decision to fire the governor of Nablus, Akram Rajoub, Palestinian media reported Wednesday.

After receiving a phone call from Abbas informing him of his dismissal, Rajoub wrote a post on his Facebook page, blasting the PA president for his decision.

“The president’s order is a sword pulled at my throat. I am required to leave Nablus, which I have served with all my heart, implementing my leadership’s orders with great honor,” Rajoub commented. Continue Reading »

Abbas: PLO to decide on severing cooperation with Israel next week

Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas announced Wednesday that the PLO would officially make a decision next week regarding the upholding of contractual relations with Israel, reported the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency.

Abbas made the announcement during a speech delivered in Bethlehem during Orthodox Christmas celebrations.

He reiterated past statements made by PA bodies supporting putting an end to agreements signed with Israel, notably the security coordination with Israel that was established through the Oslo Accords.

Israelis tend to see Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as a weak and dull leader who has lost his control and influence over the Palestinian street, and is therefore no longer relevant.

That may be true, but the veteran 80-year-old leader holds a huge amount of power in at least one area in the Palestinian arena: He controls the billions of dollars of the National Palestinian Fund, the most important economic body in the Palestinian Authority, whose main activity takes place out of the limelight and whose name has been linked in recent years to outrageous lack of transparency and wide-scale corruption activities.
