It appears the new US Ambassador to Israel will live & receive guests in Jerusalem

 

As the Trump administration continues to mull over its embassy move, it appears Ambassador Friedman will be working and entertaining official guests in the Jewish capital, not the US Embassy in Tel Aviv has been customary.

As the Trump administration continues to weigh a possible move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, newly-sworn in Ambassador to Israel David Friedman is settling into his new job – and looking for a new house.

While the Ambassador already owns a private residence in Jerusalem’s Talbiya neighborhood, State Department officials ruled out his request to work out of the home, saying that it does not meet the logistical requirements necessary for the Ambassador’s office or residence, where foreign officials are received for official events. REPORT: Abbas tells reporter of willingness to meet Netanyahu any time under Trump initiative

 

In an interview with a Japanese newspaper, PA leader Abbas said that he was prepared to meet with Netanyahu, but it’s dependent on a complete settlement freeze.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday made several significant statements in favor of a dialogue with Israel and a hastening of the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians in an official interview with Japanese newspaper Ashai Shimbun.

“I am ready to meet the prime minister of Israel any time in Washington under the patronage of President Trump,” Abbas declared.

White House: President Trump seeks ‘conflict-ending agreement’ with Abbas

 

Sean Spicer, the White House spokesman confirmed the May 3rd meeting between president Trump and the PA autocrat Mahmoud Abbas in Washington, with the aim of  “a conflict-ending settlement” between Israel and the Arabs.

President Donald Trump is seeking “a conflict-ending settlement” for Israelis and Palestinians, his spokesman said ahead of Trump’s meeting with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

The statement Wednesday by Sean Spicer, who was confirming the May 3 visit, is an indication that Trump is determined to extract a deal from the sides.

“They will use the visit to reaffirm the commitment of both the United States and the Palestinian leadership to pursuing and ultimately concluding a conflict-ending settlement between the Palestinians and Israel,” Spicer said in his opening remarks at the daily news briefing. Continue Reading »

70 yr-old Israeli man determined lightly-to-moderately injured after a Palestinian terrorist drove his car into him at the Gush Etzion intersection.
– An IDF force securing the area opened fire at the terrorist’s car  neutralizing him.

Another attack at the Gush Etzion junction. A Palestinian driving a private car hit a 70-year-old pedestrian on Wednesday afternoon, injuring him lightly. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that an IDF force fired at the terrorist who was killed as a result.

Bloomberg financial news agency just published its index citing near-zero inflation and a low unemployment rate as stabilizing factors in its report determining the Jewish State as the 3rd most stable economy for 2016.

Near-nonexistent inflation and a low unemployment rate of 4.8% have helped propel Israel to the No. 3 spot on a list of the world’s most stable and promising economies for 2016 published by the Bloomberg financial news agency.

Newly released documents provided by the United Nations revealed on Tuesday that the Allied Powers were well aware of the Jewish Holocaust at the hands of the Nazi regime at least two-and-a-half years earlier than commonly thought, according to The Independent.

The documents, not seen for more than 70 years, showed at the same time that the Allies, made up of the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom, had prepared war crime indictments against Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and his top subordinates.

Another Gaza terror-tunnel collapses, killing Hamas militant

 

The 20yr-old Gaza militant, a member of Hamas’s armed wing, was pronounced dead en route to hospital.

A Palestinian Hamas operative was killed on Monday morning as a tunnel collapsed on top of him east of Gaza. Several reports named the man as 20-year-old Anas Musa Abu-Shawish, a Gaza resident and a member of Hamas’s armed wing, the Izzadin Kassam Brigade.

Abu-Shawish was evacuated to receive medical treatment following the tunnel’s collapse but was already pronounced dead en route to the hospital.

Hunger strike organizer Barghouti transferred to different prison, placed in isolation

 

In an effort to thwart an organized hunger strike of nearly 1000 Palestinian prisoners, jailed Fatah leader was moved to a different prison.

The imprisoned Fatah leader, Marwan Barghouti, who led the charge on a mass hunger strike among Palestinian prisoners on Sunday, was moved to a new prison and put in isolation Monday, reported Palestinian and Israeli media.

According to reports, he was transferred along with three other prisoners from Israel’s Hadarim prison to Jalama prison, north of Jenin in an effort to thwart the ongoing hunger strike among nearly 1000 Palestinian prisoners.
