Syrian air defenses responded to an alleged airstrike on the Iraq-Syrian border town of Albukamal just after midnight on Saturday. It is the latest of several airstrikes reported in the same vicinity that are alleged to have struck Iranian-backed groups or bases linked to Iran. Albukamal is a key strategic crossing between Iraq and Syria and could be conduit for weapons trafficking from Iranian-backed groups to Hezbollah or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria. Netanyahu requests hearing broadcasted live so public can hear ‘my side’

In a message directed at Israel’s attorney general, PM Netanyahu, who faces possible indictment in 3 separate criminal cases wants his pre-trial hearing aired live, saying, “the time has come for the public to hear everything, including my side.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Thursday for his pre-trial hearing on corruption allegations to be broadcast live, saying that “the time has come for the public to hear everything, including my side”.

At long last! Facebook takes down Fatah’s Official Page due to incitement

Palestinian Media Watch’s 45-page report convinces Facebook, after years of being an “accomplice in Fatah’s terror promotion,” to replace incitement with a new message when users go to Fatah’s official page, “Sorry, this content isn’t available right now.”

Facebook appears to have shut down Fatah’s official Facebook page.

When users click on the page, they receive a message saying, “Sorry, this content isn’t available right now.”

Efforts to get the page closed began earlier this year by the Jerusalem-based Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) organization, which appealed to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg with the following message: “We strongly request that Facebook immediately close and delete Fatah’s Facebook page and ensure that no similar page is reopened.” Continue Reading »

Likud bumped up to 32 seats, keeps right-wing bloc at 55 seats

United Torah Judaism, the Ashkenazi ultra-Orthodox party loses one seat to Likud, but right-wing bloc remains unchanged at 55, while the Blue & White remains at 32 with its left-wing bloc unchanged at 44 mandates.

The Central Election Committee announced 1 a.m. Wednesday that Likud won an extra seat compared to what they previously stated, bringing the total seats obtained by Benjamin Netanyahu’s party to 32, just one less than Benny Gantz’s Blue and White.

Moreover, the Ashkenazi ultra-Orthodox party United Torah Judaism moved from eight seats to seven seats.

PA accuses Israel of “collective punishment” after reducing electric supply

Abbas’ Palestinian gov’t accuses Israel of Geneva Conventions ‘crimes’ after the Israel Electric Company inevitably reduced the power supply to parts of the West Bank, due to the Palestinian Authority’s mounting unpaid electric bill of $470M.

The Palestinian Authority has accused Israel of imposing “collective punishment” on the Palestinians because of the Israeli electric company’s decision to reduce power supply to parts of the West Bank due to debts.

Afraid of the political repercussions on Jimmy Carter’s presidential reelection bid just a year after his participation in the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty, a Foreign Policy report exposes how the Carter administration squashed publicizing “a nuclear test explosion in the ocean near the southern end of Africa” in 1979.

WASHINGTON – The Jimmy Carter administration was aware of an Israeli nuclear test that took place in the 1970s, but decided to turn a blind eye to avoid a possible setback ahead of the president’s reelection campaign, Foreign Policy reported.

Right-wing factions convened at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem Wednesday afternoon, deciding to establish a “right-wing bloc” headed by Prime Minister Netanyahu, that will work for the establishment of the next government.

It was decided to form a joint coalition negotiations team for all factions in the bloc.

Saudi Arabia arrests 60 Hamas terrorists, confiscate money, property

Lebanese daily reports Saudi authorities have arrested dozens of Hamas members, confiscated their computers, documents, money, property, and banned activities by companies & organizations suspected of illegally laundering money for the Palestinian terrorist organization.

Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen reoprted that Saudi Arabia’s internal security forces have arrested over 60 people identified as members of the Hamas terror group.

The report, which Al Mayadeen attributed to “Palestinian sources,” noted that some of those arrested are Hamas parliamentarians who live in Gaza.

Amazon opens in Israel on September 12

Although the online retail giant will not open a local distribution facility in Israel, the website (in Hebrew & English) allows Israeli shoppers prioritized access to local business for speedier deliveries and lower prices, just in time for Rosh Hashanah.

After several delays, online retail giant Amazon on Monday informed Israeli businesses that the local version of its website will be ready on September 12.

In a letter to retailers, Amazon advises sellers to get their stocks ready and prepare a list of items they wish to sell on the website.
