White House gives Palestinian killer of US citizens a mere slap on the wrist

Although Deif masterminded the bombings in which hundreds of Israelis, as well as a number of Americans were murdered, the State Dept has ‘blacklisted’ him, instead of issuing warrants for his arrest.

By Stephen M. Flatow/JNS.org

The Obama administration announced Sept. 8 that it is putting Mohammed Deif and three other Palestinian terrorists on its “designated terrorists” list. That’s basically a slap on the wrist—for someone who should be subjected to U.S. prosecution, not U.S. name-calling.

Deif was trained in the art of bomb making by the infamous Hamas leader Yehya Ayyash, nicknamed “The Engineer.” When Ayyash was killed in 1995, Deif was chosen as his successor.

Three Palestinians were wounded, one of them seriously, in a gun battle that erupted in Jenin refugee camp late Tuesday between Palestinian security officers and local gunmen.

The armed clashes erupted after gunmen opened fire into the air during a rally in protest against visits by Jews to the Temple Mount, eyewitnesses said.

Bullet impacts are seen on a wall as a Palestinian man inspects a house where two members of the military wing of Hamas, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, and a civilian were killed on March 22, 2014 during an Israeli military operation in the northern West Bank of Jenin.

Israeli officials fear any defensive strikes on Hezbollah targets in Syria may bring the Jewish State into a confrontation with Russian military forces.

By Israel Today Staff

Israeli officials have expressed concern over reports of a major Russian military buildup in neighboring Syria, a move that could have far-reaching ramifications for the Jewish state.

A number of sources have recently noted a major influx of Russian personnel and equipment, including fighter jets, into war-torn Syria, presumably to prop up the embattled regime of Bashar Assad.

WATCH: A Syrian Rebel Leader Says ‘Israel Can Assist Our People More’

view videoDr. Kamal al-Labwani, one of the most prominent members of the Syrian opposition movement, says Israel should accept a diplomatic role in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis.

By KAMAL AL-LABWANI

The events that are unfolding in Syria today are premeditated and organized crimes against humanity perpetrated by regimes and countries that are competing between themselves over regional control and influence.

Israel must denounce and condemn the crimes against humanity that are taking place in Syria. This is especially true in light of the fact that the Jewish people were the victims of such crimes and are well aware of the importance of international cooperation and humanitarian aid in such situations. The United States put three senior members of Hamas, a senior commander and two leaders freed by Israel in exchange for captive soldier Gilad Shalit, on its terror blacklist Tuesday.

The State Department said Yehia Sinwar and Rawhi Mushtaha along with the Palestinian group’s military commander Mohammed Deif had been named “specially designated global terrorists” under US law.
