Three IDF soldiers from the Kfir brigade were run over in a terrorist vehicular attack on Tuesday evening at HaParsa Junction near the settlement of Dolev and the Arab village of Ein el-Arik in the West Bank’s Binyamin region.

The forces were conducting unannounced checks at the entrance of Ein el-Arik when the driver, who has been identified as 36-year-old Ahmed Shahada, used a van to carry out his attack before being shot dead by one of the soldiers nearby. Continue Reading »

Senior UN official shields Hamas’ appropriation of cement for terror tunnels

 

Despite tedious and insufficient progress repairing residential neighborhoods after Hamas received 1.2 million tons of cement & construction materials ,UN Assistant Secretary-General says there’s ‘no proof’ Hamas uses aid materials for ‘military purposes,’ i.e. dozens of newly dug terror-tunnels.

UN Assistant Secretary-General Robert Piper claims that there is no proof that Hamas is taking advantage of UN-provided construction material for “military purposes,” the pro-Hamas Middle East Monitor reports.

Israeli teens take 2nd place at international high school robotics competition

An Israeli high school team from Binyamina, near Haifa, came in second at the prestigious FIRST Robotics Competition in St. Louis, Missouri, held April 27-30.

UK Labour Suspends Third Member over Anti-Semitic Behavior

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Sunday said she is pushing to have Israeli law apply to the West Bank within one year.

Shaked made the comments while being interviewed on stage at a conference in Jerusalem organized by the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, in spite of prior vehement opposition to the idea by the Justice Ministry bureaucracy, including former attorney-general Yehuda Weinstein.

Asked about the Hok Hanormot or “Normalizing Law,” for making Israeli law apply to the West Bank, she replied, “I established a joint committee along with the Defense Ministry to work on legislation for Judea and Samaria, with essentially the purpose being that ultimately any law which was passed in the Knesset will either apply to Judea and Samaria by virtue of the legislation itself or by an order of the general [who legislates in the West Bank] or by any other manner which is considered appropriate.” Continue Reading »

19th century photo collection of Holy Land sells for record $1.4 million

The $1.4 million collection, of over 1,000 black & white photos, includes pictures of Jerusalem and the Galilee, some of which date back to 1840.

A collection of pictures of Jerusalem and other places in Israel from the 19th century has been sold for $1.4 million the British newspaper The Daily Mail reports. 

The collection consists of over 1,000 black and white photos, the earliest of which are from 1840. 

The photo set includes pictures of Mt. Zion, al-Aqsa Mosqe, and the Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives. The photos are amongst the oldest photos of Jerusalem ever captured. Continue Reading »

13 Yr-Old Israeli Girl Invents Satellite System That Produces Oxygen

 

Roni Oron, from Ramat Hasharon, Israel, won the “Satellite is Born” competition hosted by the Israel Space Agency, with a satellite that has the potential to create oxygen in space.

 

A 13-year-old Israeli girl has invented a system for the production of oxygen in space, the Hebrew youth paper Ma’ariv L’Noar reported on Thursday, along with an interview with the budding teen scientist from Ramat Hasharon.

Palestinian football club reaps ‘insults & injury’ from Lebanon & AFC

 

One month after 9 Arab Israeli soccer players were ‘insulted’ by Lebanon’s refusal to allow them entry for a match, the AFC ‘injured’ them by declaring the team losers & fining them $20,000 to boot.

The Palestinian Football Association on Saturday denounced the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) decision to declare as losers a Palestinian team who had several players unable to enter Lebanon for a soccer game in the AFC Cup.

The match was supposed to take place on March 9 between the Palestinian soccer team Shabab Al-Thahriyeh from near Hebron and the Syrian team Al-Wahda. Confirmed: Israel Finds Oil Near Dead Sea

 

After a 20 year hiatus, a second geological survey confirms presence of oil with estimated value between 1.2-1.8 billion shekels, on the Israeli side of the Dead Sea.

On Sunday the Hatrurim consortium, named for the Hatrurim formation in the Dead Sea area, announced that a report from the Dunmore Consulting company had confirmed the presence of an oil reservoir in an area under license by Hatrurim.

A geological survey conducted at the Halamish drilling site, located within Hatrurim’s 94 square kilometer (36 square miles) license, estimated that there was between 7 and 11 million barrels of oil in the deposit, worth some 1.2 to 1.8 billion shekels ($316 – 474 million). Continue Reading »

PLO ‘Throwing a Fit’ Demanding Apology Over Eurovision Flag Policy

 

PLO representatives have denounced the ‘shameful, totally biased & unacceptable decision’ from the Eurovision song contest organizers after a document was leaked banning the flags of all non-UN member state, including the Palestinian Authority flag.

The Palestinians demanded an apology on Saturday from the organizers of Eurovision, who are already under fierce criticism after a document leaked forbidding certain flags, such as the Basque and Palestinian ones.
