Apple to expand even further in Israel

Apple’s Israeli research center already 2nd largest outside of its California campus, but newly added expansion into planned development center sees Apple adding 100s of additional Israeli workers.

Apple, the iconic global technology giant, is further building its presence in Israel by expanding the size of the offices in its new Herzliya headquarters.

According to a report in the Hebrew language The Marker on Wednesday, Apple has decided to increase the size of its second Herzliya research building to be built later this year by no less than 4,000 meters.

The extra office space is estimated to allow for the employment of 150 to 250 new Israeli employees.

Turkey & Qatar reportedly broker new truce deal between Israel & Hamas

According to the Israeli report, Turkey has delivered to Israel a proposal for a 5-yr ceasefire.

Qatar and Turkey have drafted a new proposal for a long term ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Israeli news site Walla! News reported on Tuesday.

According to Palestinian sources quoted by Walla! Turkey has passed on to Israel a proposal for a five-year ceasefire, during which a floating port would be built across from the Gaza Strip’s sea shore, where cargo ships would dock.

Israel’s Jewish Youths to Promote More Arabic in Jerusalem

In effort to counter recent spat of hate crimes, 150 Jewish high school students in Jerusalem will be riding the Light Rail while speaking only in Arabic.

Next week a group of 150 Jewish high school students will ride Jerusalem’s light rail while conversing only in Arabic. It is a noble initiative that has been poorly presented by some organizers and journalists giving the impression of overbearing racism in the Jewish state.

US State Department Blacklist Hezbollah Terrorists For Burgas Bombing

Three Hezbollah suspects — two of whom are accused in a deadly 2012 bombing targeting Israeli tourists in Bulgaria — have been placed on a special US terror watch list, Washington announced on Tuesday.

The State Department named Meliad Farah, Hassan el-Hajj Hassan and Hussein Atris as “specially designated global terrorists.”

The terror designation makes it illegal for US citizens to engage in any transactions with the three men, and freezes any property they might possess within the United States.

Palestinian Saboteur Shot On Security Fence by IDF Dies of Wound

Sirens Automatically Activated When Syria Fired 2 Mortars Into Northern Israel

IDF officials confirm mortars were probably ‘spillover’ from fighting in Syrian Golan, where heavy battles have been ongoing in recent hours.

Two mortars fell in northern Israel early Tuesday afternoon, shortly after air raid sirens blared throughout the area of Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the northern Golan Heights, warning of fire from Syria. Local residents reported hearing blasts in the area shortly after.

The mortars landed in an open area near orchards and a UN base.  The IDF has confirmed that the two mortars were errant fire from battles raging in Syria, near the border with Israel, and not an intentional attack.

First humanitarian mission aircraft has landed in Nepal. Israel’s priorities:
• Search & rescue survivors from the rubble
• Assemble IDF field hospital to begin rendering medical attention to the injured
• Locate Israelis and return them home

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has been providing assistance to Israelis, Nepalese and others since receiving the first reports of the earthquake that hit Nepal.
The Ministry, via Israel in Nepal, is aiding Israelis in the stricken area and is in touch with the families of Israeli travelers who have not yet established contact.

UN Secretary General says Palestinian militants in Gaza put UN schools at risk not Israel

Palestinian militants were the ones who risked the civilian population by hiding weapons at UN premises being used as emergency shelters, writes UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Monday he deplores that a UN inquiry found “Israeli actions” killed at least 44 Palestinians and injured some 227 more at UN premises being used as emergency shelters during the 2014 Gaza conflict.

Helicopter Rescue Four Israelis From Mount Everest

Israel’s gov’t says it is aware of 6 Israelis stuck on Langtang trail as trekker & his mother call for helicopter rescue.

Four Israelis caught up in the earthquake in Nepal were rescued Monday from Mount Everest by the Harel insurance company. The four had been trapped at high altitude and were rescued by helicopter.

Meanwhile, other Israelis left stranded by the devastating quake and their relatives are calling on the government to take immediate steps to rescue them as conditions worsen and the death toll rises.

Some 100 Israelis have still to make contact following the quake, but with electricity outages and appalling weather conditions, it could be difficult for many to do so. Continue Reading »

In the April 12 edition of the Jordanian daily Al-Dustour, columnist Maher Abu Tair sheds light on what he calls the “sad” contemporary situation in which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan finds itself.

He accuses Arab countries of turning their backs on Jordan and abandoning it, pushing Jordan totally into Israel’s economic and political lap.

According to the IDF, a group of armed terrorists approached the border with an explosive device near the border town of Majdal Shams, which was intended to be detonated against IDF troops. In response, an IAF aircraft targeted the group and prevented the attack.

Israel Dispatches Massive Medical and Search & Rescue Teams to Nepal

Huge dispatchment of IDF first responders including full medical staff to set up & operate field hospital in Kathmandu.
• 250 Israelis still missing.

Israel on Sunday dispatched some 240 IDF soldiers to take part in search and rescue efforts in Nepal, which on Saturday suffered a 7.9 earthquake that left at least 2,000 people dead and many more unaccounted for.

Medical, logistics and rescue officers with Israel’s Home Front Command were among the delegation, which will establish a field hospital in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu.

In addition to aiding the local population, the IDF team will be tasked with finding and assisting an estimated 250 Israelis in Nepal who by Sunday afternoon had failed to make contact with family for friends back home. Continue Reading »
