Israel’s Knesset approves cannabis export

Medical cannabis stocks reaps windfall at Tel Aviv Stock Exchange as the reform, meant to allow the export of medical marijuana farmed & processed in Israel, was passed with the intention of infusing up to $1 billion annually into state coffers.

The Knesset, Israel’s parliament, on Tuesday approved a reform that would allow the export of medical cannabis farmed and processed in the country. In total, 21 MKs voted for the law, which passed unopposed. The implementation of the reform, in the works since 2016, is still pending a final vote by ministers.

Ahead of the new year, US human rights organization the Simon Wiesenthal Center published on Tuesday its list of the “top ten worst global anti-semitic incidents.”

Topping the list was the Pittsburgh Synagogue Massacre. The Wiesenthal Center noted that perpetrator of the deadly shooting in which 11 worshipers were murdered “was an avowed neo-Nazi,” adding that “only FBI intervention thwarted another deadly attack on a Toledo-area synagogue in early December. 5th Hezbollah attack tunnel destroyed by the IDF – Ho! Ho! Ho!

As part of Operation Northern Shield, today the IDF destroyed a fifth Hezbollah attack-tunnel that had only recently crossed into Israel.

A number of days ago, IDF troops exposed an additional cross-border attack tunnel that was dug from the Shiite village of Ayta ash Shab and crossed into Israeli territory. A short while ago, the tunnel was neutralized by an explosion.

The IDF notified the heads of the relevant local authorities and UNIFIL in advance.

The IDF had previously found and begun to destroy four other attack tunnels which violated Israeli territory during Operation Northern Shield.

Israel Knesset disqualifies early parole for convicted terrorists

Security prisoners convicted of murder or accessory to murder who have served 2/3 of their sentences will no longer be eligible for parole under new law passed Tuesday that prevents their early release.

The Knesset on Tuesday enacted a law preventing the early release of security prisoners found guilty of murder or accessory to murder under the 2016 Anti-Terrorism Law.

According to the new law, sponsored by Yisrael Beytenu MK Oded Forer and Likud MK Anat Berko, prisoners convicted of murder or accessory to murder will no longer have the possibility of having their sentences shortened. Continue Reading »

Israel’s air defense system – likely the Arrow – was activated late Tuesday night against a Syrian anti-aircraft missile, following an alleged Israeli air strike over the capital of Damascus. Media reports claimed that Israel struck weapon warehouses near the Syrian capital.

The Israel Air Force received it’s seventh C-130J transport plane, the military announced.

A ceremony at Nevatim Airbase led by Brig.-Gen.Eyal Greenboim and the commander of the Elephant Squadron Lt.Col. “H” was held Sunday to mark the arrival of the latest C-130J, known in Israel as “Samson” and Super Hercules in the US.

Lawmakers in the Central American nation of nine million backed the embassy move in April, passing a non-binding resolution calling on President Juan Orlando Hernandez to follow the US and Guatemala in moving their embassies to Jerusalem.

Palestinian activists, motivated by Fatah officials, have called for a total boycott by Arabs of the first joint Israeli-Palestinian shopping mall that’s set to open just north of Jerusalem.

Palestinian activists have called for boycotting the first Israeli-Palestinian shopping mall, which was built by supermarket chain owner and developer Rami Levy in the industrial zone of Atarot, north of Jerusalem. The mall, which is expected to open soon, cost NIS 200 million and has more than 50 businesses.

Israel’s Drone Dome defense system used to re-open Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport in London was only able to re-open after military reinforcements were brought in, equipped with technology that was used to defeat ISIS in Syria, which the Daily Mail identified as the Israeli-made Drone Dome.

REPORT: Israel ranks 3rd most educated country

Israel outranks U.S., all European countries for percentage of citizens aged 25-64 holding degree in higher education, be it academic or vocational, according to latest OECD report.

Israel is the third most educated country, according to 2017 data compiled by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

OECD calculated the percentage of each country’s population between the ages of 25 and 64 who have completed a two- or four-year degree beyond high school – including both academic and vocational programs.

The data shows that 50.9 percent of Israelis in the target age bracket have a higher-education degree. Continue Reading »
