“Operation Good Neighbor”: IDF’s effort to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrians

A Thanksgiving Story

IDF’s “Operation Good Neighbor,” first revealed this past July, was initiated as an ad-hoc solution to treat Syrians who came to Israel’s border fence seeking immediate medical attention from IDF soldiers, then expanded into an organized governmental mission in June 2016, as Syria’s humanitarian needs grew.

Israel fast-tracks emergency medical aid to fight Black Death plague in Madagascar

Israel and the South African branch of Magen David Adom are working together to rush emergency medical aid to the International Red Cross to fight the Black Death plague in Madagascar.

Israel is rushing to send greatly needed aid to Madagascar after a severe outbreak of the Black Death plague in the African island.

The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South African branch of Magen David Adom have joined forces to head the aid effort. The aid will be delivered to the International Red Cross in Madagascar.

Since August 2017, the island has been battling the epidemic of the airborne pneumonic plague but cases have risen by 8% in the past week alone. Continue Reading »

Operation “Good Neighbor” – Israel supplies humanitarian aid to 200k Syrians in Golan Heights

While it’s no secret over 3,000 wounded Syrians, including hundreds of children, have been treated in Israeli hospitals, just a few are aware of Operation ‘Good Neighbor’ with the IDF distributing baby food, medicine, generators, school supplies to 200,000 civilians on Israel’s north-east border, in the Syrian Golan Heights.

Israel’s construction & engineering delegation continues search effort in Mexico

Israeli engineers are surveying buildings in the Mexican capital to determine whether they are safe, while others in the delegation continue searching through the rubble, still hoping to find survivors.

The IDF delegation to Mexico City on Saturday continued searching through the wreckage caused by the deadly 7.1 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country earlier this week, though at this point the chances of finding survivors are said to be very small.Because of the bleak assessments, the Israeli delegation—after consultations with the Mexican, American and Japanese rescue teams also operating in the city—gave up its surgical search methods over the last two days in favor of more massive, large-scale efforts. IDF construction & engineering unit arrives in Mexico for search & rescue

Israel’s Home Front Command delegation from the IDF that arrived in Mexico specializes in construction & engineering, that includes 71 professionally equipped soldiers & officers to assist in the logistical efforts of the locals, from their coordinated search teams, to successful rescues.
– ‘We’ll stay as long as it takes,’ said the IDF delegation’s commander.

The IDF has dispatched a rescue unit to Mexico City Thursday to assist in logistical efforts in some of the 38 buildings to completely buckle in the Mexican capital after the earthquake that hit it Tuesday.

Israeli aid group first to arrive after Caribbean island devastated by Hurricane Irma

The Israeli organization, Rescuers Without Borders, has arrived and set up their humanitarian mission on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.
– “Every patient or resident that sees us says ‘Thank you Israel, you Israelis got here first.’ It’s a great honor.”

When Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean, it claimed many lives and caused a lot of damage on the island of Saint Martin, where a delegation from the Israeli organization Rescuers Without Borders (SSF) is working to save lives and provide assistance.

Israelife sends medical, search & rescue team to Miami

Two weeks ago, the Israelife Foundation sent a medical delegation who volunteer at United Hatzalah to help in aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Now, a team is off to Florida.

A delegation of the Israelife Foundation left for Miami on Saturday night to help the local Jewish community and Israeli community in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

The volunteers taking part in the mission will assist in providing an initial response to the natural disaster and will deal with its implications in terms of the community.

“Our role as volunteers will be to assist the community and to handle the situation as best we can in the absence of American officials, until their arrival,” explained delegation spokesman Moti Elmaliach. Continue Reading »

Israel sends $1 million in emergency aid to Hurricane Harvey victims

Working alongside staff from the the Israeli humanitarian aid organization IsraAid and Movers 495, an American-Israeli-owned removals firm, the Israeli embassy in Washington began sending aid to Hurricane Harvey victims.

The US embassy in Washington DC on Tuesday packed up a truck with several tons of supplies and donations to send to the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

The Times of Israel reports that staff from the embassy worked alongside staff from the the Israeli humanitarian aid organization IsraAid and Movers 495, an American-Israeli-owned removals firm.

With volunteers from Movers 495, an American-Israeli-owned removals firm, the Israeli embassy in Washington sends aid to Hurricane Harvey victims.

Two of Israel’s humanitarian aid organizations IsraAID, and iAID, dispatched teams with relief aid and equipment to assist in cleaning damaged homes, clear debris and offer psychological support to the victims of Harvey’s devastation.

Israel among first to dispatch humanitarian aid to Sierra Leone

Israel on Tuesday sent humanitarian aid to the West African country of Sierra Leone after a deadly mudslide struck areas outside the capital, Freetown.

Authorities said more than 400 people were killed in and around Freetown on Monday after heavy rains triggered a massive mudslide. The Red Cross estimated that 600 people were still missing, and said the death toll was certain to rise. Continue Reading »

4 yr-old Gaza boy finally walks after Jerusalem doctors remove tumor from his chest

After years of sitting in a wheelchair, unable to stand on his feet and in severe respiratory distress, 4 yr-old Sliman was finally diagnosed correctly, and after the removal of a chest growth undetected in several Gaza hospitals, Sloman is now walking and breathing easier.

A four-year-old boy from Gaza is able to walk after undergoing complex surgery at Hadassah-University Medical Center, in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem, to remove a tumor from his chest.

After crediting Haifa’s Rambam Hospital and staff for saving his life, and seeing Gaza, Syrian, and Palestinian children being lovingly cared for, a senior PA official donates “tens of thousands of shekels” to the Israeli institution anonymously, for obvious reasons.

A top official of the Palestinian Authority has donated an unspecified amount of money – described only as “tens of thousands of shekels” – to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Jewish nurse breastfeeds Palestinian infant as mother hospitalized with serious injury

 

Pediatric nurse at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem volunteers to tend to 9-month-old Arab child from Hebron, after father killed and mother seriously injured in a car accident.

During an entire shift in the pediatric emergency room at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, nurse Ula Ostrowski-Zack nursed a nine-month-old Palestinian baby from Hebron whose mother was seriously injured and his father killed in a car accident.

“His aunts were surprised that a Jew agreed to breastfeed him, but I told them that every mother would do it,” she said.

Israel Sends Team to Flood-Stricken Sri Lanka With Emergency Aid

 

Israel’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka delivered disaster relief supplies to Colombo’s Foreign Ministry, along with a letter from President Reuven Rivlin to President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena, expressing Israel’s solidarity with with the Sri Lankan people.

The American Jewish Joint Distribution (JDC) is providing emergency aid to victims of the devastating flooding and mudslides that hit Sri Lanka this week, killing hundreds of people and displacing hundreds of thousands.

This is the worst natural disaster the island nation has seen since the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. Israelis send medicines & emergency medical supplies to Syrian children

 

Just Beyond Our Border’s members came together on social media, people from all over Israel, including religious settlers from the West Bank, and they just raised over NIS 2 million in crowd funding campaigns to buy medical supplies for children suffering in Syria’s civil war.
