Hamas Legislator Arrested By IDF

 

Israel’s Shin Bet has confirmed that the IDF arrest was carried out on Thursday morning just outside of Hebron, and will be followed up by a thorough investigation of the Hamas-affiliated lawmaker, Samir Halaika.

The IDF arrested Hamas lawmaker Samir Halaika early Thursday morning in her home in a Palestinian village outside of Hebron, the Shin Bet confirmed.

On Monday morning, the IDF arrested two other Hamas lawmakers, Khaled Tafish and Anwar Zaboun.

Unprecedented #BDSfail: Swiss gov’t prohibits state funding of BDS

Marking the first time any European parliament acknowledged the moral equivalence and/or correlation between anti-Semitism and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, the Swiss parliament now prohibits government funding of BDS, categorizing it along with other racist and anti-Semitic organizations.

Switzerland’s parliament made an unprecedented decision on Wednesday to prevent the state from “financing any organization which supports racism, anti-Semitism, or the BDS.”

Israel makes history as it becomes an energy exporter

 

Jordan has increased its economic ties to Israel by beginning to import natural gas, as part of its 2014 deal to purchase 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

An Israeli company said Thursday it has started exporting gas from an offshore field to Jordan, marking the country’s first ever exports of natural gas.

The exports to Jordan began in January, Delek Drilling — part of a consortium leading the development of Israel’s offshore gas reserves — recently told AFP.

There was no formal announcement at the time but it is the first time Israel has ever exported natural gas, a company spokeswoman said. Continue Reading »

Hamas getting tough on smugglers as drugs flood Gaza

 

The quantity of drugs seized in January is equal to the whole of 2016 as marijuana, hashish and prescription painkillers are smuggled into Gaza in record amounts.

Marijuana and prescription painkillers are flooding into the Gaza Strip as never before, prompting officials from the ruling Islamist group Hamas to seek tougher punishments for smuggling drugs into the coastal enclave.

Iran blocks Waze GPS navigation for being ‘Made in Israel’

 

Although the app is widely used among Iranian drivers, the Iranian news agency FARS reports a temporarily block of the GPS navigation application Waze is currently in effect due to gov’t concerns, since its development was in the Jewish State.

Authorities in Iran have temporarily blocked people from using the navigation app Waze because it was developed in Israel.

In a report publicized by the Iranian news agency FARS, it was stated that a final permanent decision regarding the use of the program will be made soon. As of now, the app is unavailable for download, and the actual use of the program is being blocked by the government. Continue Reading »

Joint Security Force Bust Palestinian Weapon-Smuggling Network

 

Ending the months-long operation by the Israel Police, Shin Bet and the IDF, 9 men are arrested in Nablus, finally dismantling a vast smuggling network that used mail-ordered combat equipment to supply terrorist cells in Gaza & the West Bank.

An operation to bring down a weapon parts and combat accessories smuggling network was finished Tuesday night as the IDF, Shin Bet, Israel Police and customs stormed the last operating shop in Nablus, seizing illegally smuggled equipment and arresting the shop owner.

The smuggling network ran by ordering the equipment online from undisclosed countries to the Ashdod port by ship, and from there, sending it by mail or some other legitimate delivery system to a recipient in either Balata or Casbah refugee camps in Nablus. Continue Reading »

VIDEO: After two years of trials, the Sea Knight comes to replace an older, smaller, less efficient version, that’s been upgraded with heavier armaments and can participate in special ops without endangering soldiers’ lives.

The Israeli Navy’s 916th Company successfully concluded the experimental period of the first model of the Sea Knight—an unmanned vessel that was successfully put into action two years ago.

In most cases, it can be controlled from a mobile caravan located in the unit’s base in Ashdod. If necessary, it can also be operated from ships at sea during special operations.

2,000 year-old ‘Emperor’s Road’ discovered, ancient coins unearthed

 

Approximately 1.5 kilometers long and 6 meters wide with inset pavement stones, the Roman period road, along with the ancient coins were unearthed by students, under the supervision of the Israel Antiquities Authority.

A wide and well-preserved 2,000-year-old road dating to the Roman period was unearthed last month during archaeological excavations carried out by the Israel Antiquities Authority and students near Beit Shemesh.

The dig, located just off of Highway 375, was conducted prior to laying a water pipeline to Jerusalem at the initiative of the  water corporation Mei Shemesh.

Knesset passes bill baring entry into Israel of foreigners who support boycotting Israel

 

Newly passed legislation will prevent foreign individuals and/or organizations that have called or supported a boycott of Israel, from receiving an entry visa or residency permit, and prohibits foreigners from operating within the lands of the State of Israel to advance boycott, divestment or sanctions against Israel.

The Israeli Knesset on Monday evening passed a controversial law that bans the issuing of visas and residency permits to foreign citizens who call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel, effectively banning them from being able to visit the Israel.
