Unidentified IDF knapsack with weapons returned to security forces by Palestinian Arabs

 

An army knapsack filled classified material, numerous weapons & ammunition was found by Palestinian Arabs on Route 35 near Hevron, and returned to Israeli forces via Palestinian police.

Palestinian Arabs found an IDF knapsack containing classified materials near Hevron, and returned it to Israeli security forces.

According to the report on Channel 2, the Arabs claimed that they found the bag on Route 35, near Hevron. It contained classified materials, as well as army uniforms and ready-to-use weapons.

At least three Palestinians were injured on Friday in clashes with Israeli troops on the Gaza border, the Ma’an Palestinian news agency says.

Ma’an quotes an Israeli army spokesperson as saying that “riot dispersal means” had been used during “violent riots” in order to “prevent infiltration.”

IDF set to deploy unmanned patrol vehicles on Gaza border

WATCH: IDF’s ‘Drakonit’ system allows soldier’s firing without exiting APC, tank

 

IDF’s newly integrated Drakonit system will permit its soldiers to fire at targets up to 1.5 kilometers away without having to exit, or expose themselves on their armored vehicles, providing the soldiers with optimum protection.

The IDF Ground Forces’ Technological Brigade have begun installing in recent months the “Drakonit” computerized firing network in “Achzarit” APCs, which are used in regular and reserve infantry brigades, and on the Combat Engineering Corps’s older “Puma” armored vehicles.

The Drakonit, manufactured by Elbit, allows the operation of a heavy machine gun on the roof of armored vehicles directly from the fighter’s box without the soldier needing to extend their body outside and thus endanger themselves. Continue Reading »

REPORT: IDF combat soldiers will be given college scholarships after discharge

Full scholarships to pursue a university degree or professional certification upon completion if combat service will be funded by the IDF, the Friends of the IDF and the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers.

Israeli combat soldiers will receive full scholarships from the military to pursue a university degree or professional certification.

The scholarships will be funded by the Israel Defense Forces, as well as the Friends of the IDF and the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers, the Israeli Hebrew daily Yediot Acharonot reported.

In a recent meeting, IDF Chief of Staff Gen. Gadi Eisenkot asked Israel’s Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon to help him find the funds to offer such scholarships to only to combat soldiers, but to all soldiers after their service, according to Ynet, the English-language sister publication of Yediot. IDF failed to destroy Russian drone that invaded Israeli airspace

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin informed PM Netanyahu that the UAV which accidentally entered Israeli airspace was Russian, not Hezbollah’s or Syrian.

A drone which penetrated Israeli airspace three weeks ago was Russian, not Syrian, as initially believed, Haaretz reported on Sunday.

In mid-July, three weeks ago to the day, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crossed into Israeli airspace over the Golan Heights from the Syrian frontier, and managed to fly some 2.5 miles (4 km) into Israeli airspace before turning back.

A Palestinian in a Hamas terror cell involved in the death Rabbi Michael Mark of was killed during an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) operation overnight near the West Bank city of Hebron, Israel’s Channel 2 news reports.

“A terrorist behind the attack in which Rabbi Michael Mark was assassinated on July 1 was killed on Tuesday night during exchanges of fire with soldiers,” a statement from the IDF said.

An Israeli border policeman shot dead one Palestinian and wounded another in the West Bank on Wednesday when they drove towards officers, an army spokeswoman said.
