Israel begins “Eitan” production, first 8-wheeled APC for IDF

With 2 years of testing behind them, the Armored Vehicles Directorate at the Israel Ministry of Defense decided on the production of the ‘Eitan’ APC, equipped with an unmanned 30mm cannon turret & the developed in Israel, ‘Trophy’ advanced defense system, operational for the IDF by the end of 2021.

The Israel Defense Forces administration began regular production of the “Eitan” – the IDF’s first wheeled armored personnel carrier, resembling the Soviet-era BRDM2 (Combat Reconnaissance/Patrol Vehicle) but an 8-wheeled armored combat vehicle version based on the technology of the Merkava and the Namer AFVs.

It is capable of carrying 12-13 combat soldiers, and was developed and built following the lessons of Operation Protective Edge and is expected to replace the IDF’s veteran M113 APC. Continue Reading »

Israeli ‘water from air’ company gets top Energy Efficiency Product award

The tech industry’s top ‘smart home innovations’ are selected each year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where the Israeli tech company Watergen, received the 2020 top honor for its home appliance Genny, that extracts potable water from thin air.

US Army to buy Israeli-made Spike missiles over USA made Hellfire

Forced to develop locally made missiles fired from Apache helicopters after Obama halted sales to Israel in 2014, Israel’s ‘Spike’ has over double the distance of American made ‘Hellfire’ and incorporates advanced technologies with smart target tracking designed with artificial intelligence features.

The US Army has chosen the Israeli-made long-range Spike precision missile to use on attack helicopters as an interim solution for greater standoff capabilities.

According to Defense News, an Army Requirements Oversight Council authorized the decision “ahead of a bigger decision” regarding acquiring long-range precision munitions for its air fleets.

Israel Defense Ministry reveals breakthrough in defensive laser technology

Head of the Israel Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Research & Development, said: “We are entering a new age of energy warfare in the air, land and sea. The R&D investments …in recent years have placed the State of Israel among the leading countries in the field of high-energy laser systems.”

Newly formed IDF special ops unit trained to penetrate enemy territory

The function of the IDF’s new, highly trained multidimensional unit, comprised with tanks, UAVs & classified combat technologies, will be to operate with new advanced abilities, to track down, attack and destroy the enemy.

The IDF on Wednesday began work on its new special ops unit designed to go deep into enemy territory. The unit will be equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and be joined by teams from various other commando units.

Two Israeli scientists find way to kill pancreatic cancer cells in 14 days

In collaboration with Dr. Talia Golan’s team at the Cancer Research Center at Sheba Medical Center, a study, led by Prof. Malka Cohen-Armon and her team at TAU’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine have successfully eradicated the number of cancerous cells by up to 90% after two weeks of daily injections.

NASA to deploy Israeli made solar-power generator on Int’l Space Station

Israel’s miniaturized solar-power generator becomes ‘one giant leap’ for private commercial space missions.

A new prototype miniaturized solar-power generator developed in Israel will be sent by NASA to the International Space Station in its first launches of 2020. The new generator was designed by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s professor emeritus Jeffrey Gordon – funded through a research grant by the Science, Technology and Space Ministry – and by his US colleagues from Pennsylvania State University, University of Illinois, George Washington University, US Naval Research Laboratory, HNU Systems and Northwestern University. Israel’s ’emissions free & pollution free’ solar power plant goes into service

Emissions free and pollution free, operating without generating any harmful substances at all, Israel allows activation of a new massive solar power plant located in the Negev Desert near the city of Be’er Sheva.

Israel has taken another step in moving from fossil fuels to environmentally friendly renewable energy, approving its biggest plant of unique solar panels to date. The plant, which is for commercial use, operates without generating pollution or any greenhouse gas emissions.

Israeli firm delivers defense system to protect US Army’s Abrams tank crews

The US and Israel worked together to integrate Rafael’s Trophy defense system for four tank brigades within both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps Abrams variants.

The first Trophy active defense systems to shield US Army Abrams tanks from a variety of anti-armor threats has been delivered on time, Israeli defense giant Rafael Advanced Defense Systems announced on Tuesday.

Israeli waste-to-plastics startup may end garbage dumps/landfills

UBQ, the Israeli waste-to-plastics greentech startup, begins a pilot program in the United States with the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority turning 80% of uncycled household garbage into plastic recycling bins.

An Israeli greentech startup, founded by a fabled hummus maker, has signed a deal with a Virginia-based recycling authority.

The startup, UBQ, backed by Yehuda Pearl, the founder of popular hummus brand Sabra, has developed a technology that takes the 80 percent of the household garbage that is typically not recycled and turns it into a plastic substitute that can be made into everyday goods.
