500 IDF Special Forces commandos participate in extensive military drill in Cyprus

 

WATCH: The first of its kind and one of the largest exercises by Israeli commandos held on foreign territory, it involved close to 500 combat soldiers from the Egoz special forces unit as well as 3 Super Hercules transport planes and 10 Black Hawk helicopters.

Israeli commandos wrapped up a large scale drill in Cyprus on Thursday, returning to Israel after an intensive three-day drill on the island nation.

IDF: Syrian infiltrator arrested after apprehended in Northern Israel by armed forces

 

The IDF arrested and subsequently took into questioning a suspicious unarmed man Tuesday after ascertaining he illegally entered Israel from Syria.

The IDF arrested a man on Tuesday afternoon after he was caught crossing the Syrian border into Israel, according to the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit.

The man was unarmed and was subsequently taken in for questioning.

The IDF neglected to comment on how the man succeed in crossing over into Israeli territory and no further details were provided.

This rare incident comes on the heels of another attempt to infiltrate Israeli territory through the northern border.Just Continue Reading »

Russia invites IDF to participate in International Army Games competition

 

IDF delegations in the fields of military medicine and logistics will be sent to Russia to compete against the military forces of 27 other countries in the annual International Army Games.

For the first time, the IDF has been invited to participate in the International Army Games against 27 other countries, including the Syrian Army.In the past three years, the Russians have been conducting an annual “military Olympics” in which various armies from the world compete in professional fields such as armor, paratroopers, military police, medicine, and more. The Armored Corps will soon have cutting-edge vehicles capable of winning decisive victories, Brig.- Gen. Baruch Matzliach, head of the Merkava Tank Directorate, said on Wednesday.

Website drops Israel to 15th place on list of world’s strongest militaries

 

The military analytic website Global Firepower places Israel’s IDF ahead of Iran, but behind Turkey and Egypt’s armed forces.

Israel Security Forces Arrest Hamas Parliamentarian

 

In an overnight joint operation, Israel’s security service Shin Bet, and IDF special forces arrest 3 Hamas members, one a legislator in the West Bank parliament.

The IDF and the Shin Bet arrested overnight Tuesday a Hamas legislator in the West Bank parliament, Ahmed Atun, who resides in the city of Al-Bireh, north of Jerusalem. Two other wanted individuals in the West Bank were also arrested in the process.

Atun is one of four Hamas members of parliament who were stripped of their residency in east Jerusalem and expelled in the last decade, the others being Muhammad Abu Tir, Khaled Abu Arafeh, and Muhammad Totah. Continue Reading »

Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager Thursday in the West Bank and seriously wounded three other Palestinians, the Palestinian health ministry said in a statement.

It did not give the circumstances, but said the shooting happened near the Jelazoun Palestinian refugee camp.

Hamas Legislator Arrested By IDF

 

Israel’s Shin Bet has confirmed that the IDF arrest was carried out on Thursday morning just outside of Hebron, and will be followed up by a thorough investigation of the Hamas-affiliated lawmaker, Samir Halaika.

The IDF arrested Hamas lawmaker Samir Halaika early Thursday morning in her home in a Palestinian village outside of Hebron, the Shin Bet confirmed.

On Monday morning, the IDF arrested two other Hamas lawmakers, Khaled Tafish and Anwar Zaboun.

Joint Security Force Bust Palestinian Weapon-Smuggling Network

 

Ending the months-long operation by the Israel Police, Shin Bet and the IDF, 9 men are arrested in Nablus, finally dismantling a vast smuggling network that used mail-ordered combat equipment to supply terrorist cells in Gaza & the West Bank.

An operation to bring down a weapon parts and combat accessories smuggling network was finished Tuesday night as the IDF, Shin Bet, Israel Police and customs stormed the last operating shop in Nablus, seizing illegally smuggled equipment and arresting the shop owner.

The smuggling network ran by ordering the equipment online from undisclosed countries to the Ashdod port by ship, and from there, sending it by mail or some other legitimate delivery system to a recipient in either Balata or Casbah refugee camps in Nablus. Continue Reading »

From Uzbekistan, the twins Fatima and Zukra join the IDF as Yael and Noga

 

After discovering their Jewish roots, 19yr-old twin sisters Fatima and Zukra from Uzbekistan, began an extraordinary journey of becoming IDF soldiers, Jewish, ‘Yael’ & ‘Noga’ and then finally Israeli.

 

They were born 19 years ago in Uzbekistan and have attended a Muslim school. When they learned of their father’s roots, they decided to come to Israel with their families. Today,  Islambakov serve in the Israel Defense Forces. One of them has converted to Judaism and the other will soon finish the conversion process. They have both changed their names. Yael and Noga’s spectacular story.

IDF releases first secured military smartphone for the battlefield

 

WATCH: IDF releases to it’s soldiers a new secure smartphone, the first of its kind, to help them maintain their security on and off the battlefield.

The IDF recently released a new military smartphone, which can support both G4 and military networks.

Using the new smartphones, IDF soldiers and commanders will be able to securely share classified information, as well as footage and visuals from the field. Spoken code, as well as the dangerous need to speak on the battlefield, will become a thing of the past.
