Israel TV2: Jerusalem messages King Abdullah that Jordan breaches Temple Mount status quo

Following Jordanian King Abdullah II’s criticism of Israel over recent violence on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, Israel reportedly responded to the monarchy and indicated that Jordan itself was allowing the status quo at the site to be broken.

According to a Channel 2 report on Monday, Israel communicated to Jordan that it should not be shirking its own responsibility at the Temple Mount and that it was in fact the Jordanian Waqf that has allowed the rioters who were armed with stones to sleep in al-Aksa Mosque. Continue Reading »

39 Palestinians arrested by Police for throwing rocks, firebombs over 48 hours

Twenty-seven Palestinian suspects accused of throwing rocks and firebombs at officers in flashpoint Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem were arrested during an overnight police sweep that started late Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

The crackdown brought the total number of arrests over the trailing 48 hours to 39, according to the police.

From Friday to Saturday afternoon, 12 Palestinians were arrested for attacking Border Police officers with firebombs in Jebl Mukaber, and rioting in Shuafat, Isawiya, Wadi Joz and Ras el-Amud. Continue Reading »

Report: Latest round of Jerusalem Violence & Rioting Financed From Turkey

Israel has reportedly pointed to Turkey as responsible for incitement that led to the recent spate of turmoil at the Temple Mount and in Jerusalem, according to Channel 2 on Thursday.

Channel 2 cited Israeli officials as blaming Turkey for housing senior Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri, and allowing him to continue to operate under the auspices of the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Israeli security forces in the West Bank late Thursday shot and critically injured a Palestinian who hurled a Molotov cocktail at an Israeli vehicle, causing it to overturn, local media outlets reported.

The driver, however, reportedly emerged unharmed from the incident.

An accomplice of the Palestinian assailant was detained after attempting to flee the scene.

Abbas: ‘Jews have no right to desecrate Temple Mount with their filthy feet’

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday that the Palestinians wouldn’t allow Israelis to “desecrate” Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Referring to the tensions surrounding visits by Jews to the Temple Mount, Abbas said: “Al-Aksa is ours and so is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. They have no right to desecrate them with their filthy feet. We won’t allow them to do so and we will do whatever we can to defend Jerusalem.”

Bedazzling Heat Lightning Awes Jerusalem, Dead Sea

 

Jerusalem natives report that they had never seen such heat lightning at end of Rosh Hashanah, as winter rains appear to be on their way.

The massive dust storm that started in Israel last Tuesday largely dissipated on Sunday just in time for the start of the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah, but as the holiday ended on Tuesday night the stuffy heat led to extremely rare heat lightning in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

Arabs attack Jerusalem police on Temple Mount for 3rd straight day

Rioting broke out Tuesday for a third straight day at the Temple Mount as police came to secure the contested Jerusalem holy site for Jewish visitors on the second day of Rosh Hashana.

When Israeli security forces entered the plaza of the site dozens of  masked Palestinian youth met them with a barrage of stones, blocks, and firecrackers, police said.

King Abdullah II of Jordan threatens Israel on Jerusalem ‘provocation’

Jordan’s king warned Israel on Monday that any further “provocation” in Jerusalem where Israeli police have clashed with Muslims at Al-Aqsa mosque would damage ties between the two countries.

“Any more provocation in Jerusalem will affect the relationship between Jordan and Israel” which have a 1994 peace accord but which has custodian rights over the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, said King Abdullah II following a second day of clashes at the flashpoint holy site in east Jerusalem. Netanyahu: Jerusalem to reevaluate open-fire orders on hostiles throwing rocks & fire-bombs

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a special high-level security meeting on Wednesday where it was decided to increase security forces in Jerusalem and on Road 443 from the capital to Mod’in, and weigh new open-fire orders on those throwing rocks and fire-bombs.

The meeting, which included Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz, General Security Services (Shin Bet) head Yoram Cohen, and other security officials was called in light of a recent spike in terror incidents in the capital and on 443, which is one of the major roads to and from the capital. Unearthed Steps to the Temple Mount Baffle Archaeologists Digging in City of David

A unique stepped structure, maybe the Temple Era ‘Stone of Claims’, has been excavated on the subterranean street ascending from the Siloam Pool to the Temple Mount.

An intriguing find consisting of an impressive pyramid-shaped staircase constructed of large ashlar stones was uncovered in an archaeological excavation currently conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority.

The excavation is located in the Jerusalem Walls National Park in the City of David, site of ancient Jerusalem, and is being carried out in cooperation with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority and the City of David Foundation.

Accusing Israel of “Waging Religious War on Jerusalem”, Jordan Appoints 52 Wakf Employees

Jordan has appointed 52 new employees and guards at its Jerusalem-based Wakf Department, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammed Momani announced on Wednesday.

He said that another 70 employees and guards will be appointed soon to the Wakf Department, which is in charge of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.

Arabs families who have been occupying land in Jerusalem, purchased 100 years ago for Jews from Yemen, were evicted earlier this month, including a family living in an East Jerusalem Synagogue.

Former east Jerusalem portfolio head and Meretz councilman, Dr. Meir Margalit, said on Sunday that if the municipality carry’s out reported demolition orders for an illegally-built east Jerusalem mosque, it will set off a conflagration of violence throughout the capital.

A Jewish ritual bath, walls with Hebrew script & an adjacent winepress dating back to the time of the Second Temple were discovered in Jerusalem.
