Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo open’s door to capital’s first huge aquarium

 

Zoo director Shai Doron hopes the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo’s new aquarium, which took 8 years to build, will educate visitors with their 33 tanks housing hundreds of species, on the need to preserve marine life and its habitats.

Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo has inaugurated the city’s first aquarium, which displays hundreds of species of marine life from the Mediterranean and the Red seas.

The 7,000 square-meter aquarium, which took eight years to build and cost 100 million shekels ($284 million), opened to the media on Monday and is due to open to the public soon. Continue Reading »

The Palestinian Authority is asking the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO to meet in two weeks to recognize the Old City of Hevron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs as Palestinian Heritage Sites.

PM Netanyahu tells Iran after missile strike on Syria, “Don’t threaten Israel”

 

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Israel was not worried by the Iranian strike, being their first strike outside its own territory in nearly 30 years. “Israel is prepared for every development, we have no concerns or worries.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran not to threaten Israel on Monday, hours after the Iranian army fired ballistic missiles at a Syrian base of the Islamic State.

“I have one message for Iran: Don’t threaten Israel,” Netanyahu said, reported AFP.

UN Watchdog: UNHRC’s attacks on Israel prove corrupt, entrenched political bias

Jerusalem-based watchdog group NGO Monitor is accusing the U.N. Human Rights Council of deception and bias for its decision to compile a “blacklist” of companies from or with ties to Israel that operate beyond the Green Line, with the aim of declaring them illegal.

British Police protect pro-Hezbollah, Iranian supporters at Al-Quds Day March in London

 

Among the chants by the pro-terrorist groups protected by the Metropolitan Police at London’s anti-Israel demonstration included: “Zionists/ISIS are the same. Only difference is the name,”  “Zionist are to blame for the apartment fire” and “We are all Hezbollah.”

Marchers in the annual Al-Quds Day parade in London blamed a fire in a low-income apartment complex that left at least 58 dead on “Zionists.”

Tel Aviv University plans Center for Israel Studies at Mumbai University

 

A conference in New Delhi to mark 25 years since the start of diplomatic relations between Israel & India was originally scheduled to be a one-time event, but was so successful, it will now be held annually.

The first was held at Mumbai University in Mumbai, and the second with Jindal University, held in the capital of New Delhi.

Wall Street Journal: Israel secretly supplies Syrian rebel groups

 

The WSJ reports that Israel’s policy is to ensure that Iranian-allied militant groups operating in Syria, most notably Hezbollah, are kept away from Israeli territory, including the Golan Heights.

Israel has been supplying Syrian rebel groups in the Golan Heights with funding, medical supplies, food and hard cash in an effort to create a security buffer to protect the country’s border from the maelstrom of the Syrian civil war, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) set up a military unit that is specifically tasked with supporting certain independent rebel groups who are not currently backed by Western powers, the Journal reported, adding that Israel provides money which the groups use to pay fighters and buy weapons. A new initiative by the Finance Ministry aims to turn Israel into a desirable location for the biggest Hollywood producers, Israel Hayom learned over the weekend.

Formulated by MK Michael Oren, deputy minister for foreign policy in the Prime Minister’s Office, the plan would have Israel establish a new government body to attract big-budget productions by wooing them with sizable grants.

REPORT: Israel, Saudi Arabia discuss rapprochement

 

Although denied by Saudi leadership the British Times reports possibility of Israeli airline El Al being allowed to fly over Saudi airspace and Israeli businesses being allowed to operate in the Persian Gulf.

UN envoy: Palestinian terrorists should not be extolled as ‘Heroes’

 

UN official Nickolay Mladenov says he is appalled how Palestinian groups praised the terrorists’ attack as ‘heroic’ and that the reaction should instead have been explicit condemnation of such violence.
