An Israeli army delegation departed for Brazil on Sunday morning to assist in search and rescue efforts following the collapse of a disused dam that killed at least 34 people and left hundreds missing.

1 dead, 22 injured when 10,000 Gazans riot on border with Israel

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that the rioters had been throwing rocks & hand grenades at Israeli troops who responded first by  riot-dispersal means, including firing rubber-coated bullets.

One Palestinian was killed and dozens more injured by IDF fire during the weekly protests which saw some 10,000 demonstrators riot along the Gaza security fence.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 25 year-old Ehab Atallah Abed was killed during clashes with IDF troops east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Another 24 were injured including fourteen minors, the ministry was quoted by Palestinian Wafa news as saying. Continue Reading »

Russia is demanding that Israel end its “arbitrary” airstrikes on targets in Syria, two days after the Israeli Air Force struck a series of Iranian military and intelligence targets in response to a rocket strike on the Golan Heights.

“The practice of arbitrary strikes on the territory of a sovereign state, in this case, we are talking about Syria, should be ruled out,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, in answer to a question from Russian news agency TASS about recent Israeli air strikes on Syria. Israel’s Consul General walks out of New York gala over anti-Israel propaganda

Israel’s Consul General left the hall during the annual gala of Bezalel Academy, in protest against its president’s anti-Israel speech that continued despite the Ambassador’s protest. “I was not prepared to give this credence by my presence,” he later said.

Syria Threatens to Bomb Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport

Syria’s ambassador to the UN relays message to UN Security Council: Demand halt to Israeli airstrikes in Syria, otherwise we will retaliate against Israel’s international airport outside Tel Aviv.

Syria’s ambassador to the UN on Tuesday told the world body that his nation (presumably with the help of its Iranian allies) would attack Ben Gurion International Airport if Israel didn’t stop bombing targets in the war-torn country.

Shurat Hadin targets Arafat’s Jerusalem property to compensate terror victims

The Jerusalem District Court has placed a temporary lien on a plot of land in Jerusalem owned by the late Yasser Arafat.

The court issued the order after a lawsuit was filed against the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat’s estate.

The lawsuit was filed by Shurat Hadin – Israel Law Center on behalf of eight families of victims killed by Palestinian Arab terrorists.

Israeli Navy rescues French sailor drifting off Gaza coast

After several weeks lost in the Mediterranean, a French mariner is picked up by an Israel Naval patrol after his yacht malfunctioned and was discovered adrift off the Gaza coastline.

International rescue: The Israeli Navy recovered a lost and injured French sailor aboard a yacht floating in the waters off the Gaza Strip on Friday.

The small yacht’s steering system had malfunctioned during a storm several weeks ago, and since then the vessel had been drifting in the Mediterranean Sea. The stranded man had fallen ill during his time lost at sea, and was evacuated to a nearby Israeli hospital to recover. Continue Reading »

Following shots fired at Israeli troops, IDF tank destroys Hamas post

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said no Israeli soldiers were injured after being targeted by sniper gunfire, and no immediate reports of casualties following the tank’s response on the Hamas ruled enclave.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Tuesday that one of its tanks attacked a Hamas observation post in the northern Gaza Strip after Israeli soldiers were targeted by gunfire near the volatile security fence.

The IDF said that no Israeli soldiers were injured in the shooting incident, and there were no immediate reports of casualties following the artillery strike in the Palestinian enclave.

UPDATE: Jordan lodges complaint against Israel’s new Ramon International Airport

The new airport’s air strip is slated to open January 22 and is 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) away from the Kingdom’s border. Close to Israeli’s southern resort town of Eilat, the modern airport is expected to become a major regional transport hub.

Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah is suspected of embezzling millions of dollars from the terrorist organization’s coffers, the Saudi website Al-Watan Online reported Saturday.

According to Al-Watan, Nasrallah is under house arrest, guarded by Iranian forces, and is reportedly receiving medical treatment.

HISTORY MADE: Netanyahu flies over South Sudan from Chad to Israel

For the first time, Sudan, which retains air control over its Southern neighbor, has given PM Netanyahu’s state aircraft permission to fly over South Sudan from Chad’s capital of N’Djamena to Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew back from Chad Sunday over South Sudan, the first time Sudan —  which still retains air control authority over South Sudan — has given an Israeli aircraft permission to fly over its southern neighbor.

This less circuitous route trimmed about an hour off the flight time from Chad’s capital of N’Djamena to Tel Aviv. However, the plane was still unable to fly the most direct route, which would have been north from Chad through the southwestern corner of Sudan into Egypt and then on to Israel.

A total of 11 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Syria overnight, a monitor group claimed Monday morning.

Israeli fighter planes hit a number of Iranian positions in Syria, the IDF said Monday morning, in response to the launching of a surface-to-surface rocket that was carried out on Sunday by Iranian Quds forces operating in Syrian territory.
