Israel’s construction & engineering delegation continues search effort in Mexico

Israeli engineers are surveying buildings in the Mexican capital to determine whether they are safe, while others in the delegation continue searching through the rubble, still hoping to find survivors.

The IDF delegation to Mexico City on Saturday continued searching through the wreckage caused by the deadly 7.1 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country earlier this week, though at this point the chances of finding survivors are said to be very small.Because of the bleak assessments, the Israeli delegation—after consultations with the Mexican, American and Japanese rescue teams also operating in the city—gave up its surgical search methods over the last two days in favor of more massive, large-scale efforts. Arab media report: Israeli aircraft strike Damascus airport

 

Shortly after midnight, a Syrian news outlet reported an air strike at the Damascus International Airport, presumably by the Israel Air Force.
– IDF spokesperson declines to comment on foreign reports.

Syrian news media outlets early on Friday claimed Israeli aircraft attacked the international Damascus airport.

According to some reports,  an Israeli drone was downed by the Syrian Armed Forces in the course of the operation.

The reports could not be independently verified and the Israel Defense Forces spokesperson declined to comment.

IDF construction & engineering unit arrives in Mexico for search & rescue

Israel’s Home Front Command delegation from the IDF that arrived in Mexico specializes in construction & engineering, that includes 71 professionally equipped soldiers & officers to assist in the logistical efforts of the locals, from their coordinated search teams, to successful rescues.
– ‘We’ll stay as long as it takes,’ said the IDF delegation’s commander.

The IDF has dispatched a rescue unit to Mexico City Thursday to assist in logistical efforts in some of the 38 buildings to completely buckle in the Mexican capital after the earthquake that hit it Tuesday.

The Israeli travel special Conan O’Brien aired for audiences around America Tuesday night showcased the fun, frivolous and routine side of life in Israel.

What most viewers were unaware of, however, was that after a preview screening on Monday night, the team behind the TBS show edited out portions filmed in Bethlehem and added a disclaimer to another segment.

The original version of the show – screened for 200 people in Los Angeles on Monday – included a scene filmed in a home in Bethlehem where a father discussed his son, who he said was killed by IDF soldiers during a riot. Continue Reading »

Abbas’ 40 minute tirade at UN: Israeli ‘occupation’ can’t continue

PA autocrat says UN bears a legal, political, moral and humanitarian obligation to end Israeli “occupation”, urges the UN to take steps to impose peace on Israel, accept the Palestinians as owners of the land.

Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday used his speech at the UN General Assembly to attack Israel, as he has done in past speeches as well.

In his remarks, Abbas claimed that Israel is evading its responsibility to end its “occupation of Palestine”.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday that he will not resume security coordination with Israel nor will he end financial support for Palestinian security prisoners jailed by Israel, despite pressure from the United States.

Abbas made the declarations in a wide-ranging interview with the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabinewspaper.

Israel Shipyards launches OPV designed for Cyprus Navy

In a deal valued at tens of millions of Euros, Israel Shipyards is building a technologically advanced naval ship that will be delivered to Cyprus by the end of 2017.

Israel Shipyards has unveiled an offshore patrol vessel (OPV) designed and built for the Cypriot Navy. The project has been valued at tens of millions of Euros. The high-end vessel is slated to be delivered to the Cypriot Navy by the end of the year and integrated into the fleet patrolling Cyprus’ exclusive maritime economic zone.

United States deports Palestinian terrorist to Jordan for hiding murder convictions

Convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odeh, 70, is deported to Jordan after pleading guilty to concealing her 1970 terrorism convictions when she applied for U.S. citizenship in 2004.

A Chicago Palestinian terrorist with a decades-old record of bombings in Jerusalem will be deported to Jordan on Tuesday, her spokesman said.

Supporters and community activists plan to gather at O’Hare International Airport before Rasmea Odeh, 70, departs for Jordan, said Hatem Abudayyeh, coordinator of her defense committee.

Officials in the Gaza strip announced this morning, Tuesday, that a 24-year-old terrorist had died while working in a terror tunnel near Rafiah in southern Gaza.

According to Arab media outlet reports, the terrorist belonged to the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
