Israel Shipyards launches OPV designed for Cyprus Navy

In a deal valued at tens of millions of Euros, Israel Shipyards is building a technologically advanced naval ship that will be delivered to Cyprus by the end of 2017.

Israel Shipyards has unveiled an offshore patrol vessel (OPV) designed and built for the Cypriot Navy. The project has been valued at tens of millions of Euros. The high-end vessel is slated to be delivered to the Cypriot Navy by the end of the year and integrated into the fleet patrolling Cyprus’ exclusive maritime economic zone.

In a statement released on Sunday, Israel Shipyards said the OPV, ordered in December 2015, was launched at a ceremony held last week at Israel Shipyards’ facility at Haifa Bay. Continue Reading »

Israel’s spacecraft to the moon begins construction

SpaceIL has undertaken to promote scientific & technological education in Israel, working with Israel Aerospace Industries that is currently assembling SpaceIL’s spacecraft to inspire the next generation in Israel to study science, engineering, technology and mathematics.

SpaceIL, the Israeli representative in the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition, is making giant strides to land the first Israeli spacecraft on the moon, after the base structure of the craft was received at IAI facilities earlier this week.

The skeleton of the spacecraft consists of two perforated “sandwich” boards, upper and lower plates and a cone ring structure.

These components, designed by an aerospace industry and manufactured in Spain by IberEspacio, complement the sub-system structure of the spacecraft to be launched to the moon during the coming year. Continue Reading »

Decreased rainfall in Northern Israel spanning years of dry winters leads to an unprecedented negative water level on record, meaning a decrease in the Kinneret’s and Dead Sea’s water levels.

These last few years of decreased rainfall have led to record lows of water level measurements in August, the Water Authority reported Monday.

The system can identify, locate and destroy improvised explosive devices and mines before troops even reach them.

The European Court of Justice is due to decide on Wednesday whether to keep Hamas listed as a terror organization.

The listing is important because it keeps various Hamas funds frozen, limits Hamas from openly doing business in the EU and limits the mobility of Hamas-affiliated persons.

Israel admits to sending tons of food, clothing, fuel and aid to Syrian refugees

The IDF revealed that it has been providing humanitarian aid, including half a million liters of diesel fuel and dozens of generators to about 200,000 Syrian citizens living in 80 villages and towns in the Syrian Golan Heights that is controlled by ‘friendly’ rebel groups, not affiliated with ISIS.
