Israel’s PM Netanyahu proposes air-defense against Iranian attacks

Netanyahu’s proposal comes following a series of unpunished Iranian attacks and seizures of foreign oil-tankers, their recent attack on Saudi oil facilities and now Tehran’s accusation that Israel attempted an assassination on the IRGC commender.

In a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed a massive air defense system to defend against Iranian attacks, especially cruise missiles like those used in attacks on a Saudi Arabian oil facility last month, according to KAN.

Last month, cruise missiles and explosive drones were used in an attack on two plants at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry, including the world’s biggest petroleum processing facility. Continue Reading »

IRGC Commander’s bravado: “Iran has encircled Israel from all four sides.”

With boundless bluster and bravado, the haughty IRGC Deputy Commander for Operations, Abbas Nilforoushan takes to their local radio with further warnings against those that would attack Iranian forces, claiming, “Israel lacks strategic depth.”

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards top commander threatened Israel, warning against an Israeli attack on Iran, Radio Farda reported on Saturday.

“If Israel makes a strategic mistake, it has to collect bits and pieces of Tel Aviv from the lower depths of the Mediterranean Sea,” IRGC Deputy Commander for Operations Abbas Nilforoushan said in an interview with the IRGC’s Tasnim news agency, as reported by the US-funded Iranian branch of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Syrian air defenses responded to an alleged airstrike on the Iraq-Syrian border town of Albukamal just after midnight on Saturday. It is the latest of several airstrikes reported in the same vicinity that are alleged to have struck Iranian-backed groups or bases linked to Iran. Albukamal is a key strategic crossing between Iraq and Syria and could be conduit for weapons trafficking from Iranian-backed groups to Hezbollah or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria. REPORT: Saudi, Israeli forces attack pro-Iran Quds force on Syria/Iraq border

An unnamed source to the Independent in Arabic writes, “Saudi fighter jets have been spotted along with other fighter jets, that have attacked facilities and positions belonging to Iranian militias.”

Both Israel and Saudi Arabia have been blamed for recent air strikes targeting pro-Iranian militias in the Albukamal area of Syria near the border with Iraq, according to Arab media. The attacks resulted in a number of deaths and injuries and the destruction of weapon storage facilities and rocket launchers.

Israel suspected of airstrikes on Iranian militia near Iraq-Syria border

Arab media outlets reports “Unidentified warplanes” struck installations belonging to the Popular Mobilization Unit, an Iranian proxy Shiite militia in the Al Bukamal region of eastern Syria early this morning; one Iraqi news channel accuses Israel of being behind the attacks.

“Unidentified warplanes” struck Shiite militia targets in the Al Bukamal region of eastern Syria early Tuesday morning, Arab media outlets reported.

According to the reports, the airstrikes were carried out near the Iraqi border and targeted the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Units.

Report: Amid paralyzing sanctions, Hezbollah readying for war with Israel

Israel arrests Iranian spy in West Bank

Israel’s internal Shin Bet security service announced that in April they arrested 32 yr-old Jordanian businessman Taer Shaafut, who was run by Iranian handlers to build business ties in the West Bank and Israel.

The Shin Bet domestic security service said Thursday that it has arrested a Jordanian businessman who attempted to set up an intelligence-gathering operation in the West Bank on behalf of Iran.

The businessman, who was named as 32-year-old Taer Shaafut, was arrested in April and was indicted 10 days ago by the military prosecutor for allegedly making contact with the enemy, making contact with a hostile organization, and conspiring to bring enemy funds into the area. Continue Reading »

REPORT: Syrian opposition officers document locations of Iranian missile caches

A London-based paper reported that the National Liberation Front, a group of dissident Syrian officers documented Iranian missiles being stored in the strategic T-4 airport in Syria’s Homs province, rocket caches in Jubb el-Jarah east of Homs, in Aleppo’s al-Safira, and more south of Damascus.
– Israel has warned repeatedly that it would not allow an Iranian presence in Syria.

Syrian opposition officers have documented the site of several Iranian missile caches in the country, including in areas Israel has demanded that Iran vacate.

Mossad intel on Iran attack supported US deployment of carrier strike group

REPORT: Iran sanctions Poland

A Turkish news agency reports that the Islamic Republic canceled a scheduled Polish film week two days after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Fox News that Poland was hosting a U.S. sponsored summit, aimed at discussing Iran’s regional, disruptive influence.

Iran on Sunday cancelled a week dedicated to display Polish films, which was scheduled to take place in February, in protest over Poland’s hosting of an anti-Islamic Republic summit.

Hossein Entezami, the director of the Cinema Organization, said that the activity has been suspended, reported the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
