Mossad intel on Iran attack supported US deployment of carrier strike group

A senior Israeli official noted on Israel’s TV13 News that the info obtained by the Mossad was transferred to the Trump administration, and may have formed basis for the decision to bolster US forces, including the deployment of a carrier strike force.

Egyptian President el-Sisi confirms military cooperation with Israel against ISIS

In a yet-to-be-aired news program, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi  admitted the two countries were cooperating to eliminate ISIS militant jihadists operating in the Sinai peninsula, “We have a wide range of cooperation with the Israelis,” al Sisi said in the interview.

Military cooperation between Egypt and Israel has reached unprecedented levels in the Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in an interview with CBS News.

US Navy informs officials Haifa docking may end when Chinese take over port

Retired American and Israeli defense & intelligence officials have raised security concerns over the upcoming Chinese management of the Port of Haifa beginning in 2021, as it might jeopardize U.S. Naval operations there.

WASHINGTON – The US Navy has acknowledged that its longstanding operations in Haifa may change once a Chinese firm takes over the civilian port in 2021, prompting Israel’s national security cabinet to revisit the arrangement, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

Haifa, the nation’s largest port city, regularly hosts joint US-Israeli naval drills and visits from American vessels. But a 2015 agreement between Israel’s Transportation Ministry and Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) – a company in which the Chinese government has a majority stake – has raised intelligence and security concerns that are only now prompting an interagency review. Arab States ask Azerbaijan’s President how he balances ties with Israel

The Azerbaijani leader reveled to a visiting American Rabbi that officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan “are looking for his guidance on how to navigate being a Muslim country committed to Islam, and at the same time reaching out and supporting Israel.”

Saudi, Pakistani, Afghani and Emirati officials are asking Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev about how to balance their identities as Muslim countries with a relationship with Israel, the Azerbaijani leader told an American rabbi on Monday.

Rabbi Marc Schneier , who met with Aliyev in Baku, said the Azerbaijani leader told him – without going into names – that officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Pakistan “are looking for his guidance on how to navigate being a Muslim country committed to Islam, and at the same time reaching out and supporting Israel.” Continue Reading »

The 2018 Rim of the Pacific Exercise was carried out by select naval units from 26 countries, in a massive maritime exercise in which the ‘enemy’ threatens a critical sea route, similar to a scenario where the Strait of Hormuz is being threatened by Iran.

For the very first time, an IDF Navy delegation took part in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise. During the drill, which took place near Hawaii last month, Israeli officers joined the commanding team. Israel top contender to replace Bulgaria’s aging MiG-29s with IDF F-16s

In order to improve compliance with NATO standards, Bulgaria’s Parliament approved a plan to buy IDF F-16 jets in a $2 billion deal.

Israel is in the running to replace Bulgaria’s aging MiG-29s after Sofia gave the green light to replace its Soviet-designed jets.

Bulgaria’s parliament approved the plan to buy the jets in June in order to improve its compliance with NATO standards – which it joined in 2004 – in a 3.5 billion leva (NIS 7.4 billion) military modernization project.

Israel Air Force set to sign $11 billion military aircraft deal with Boeing

Other than acquiring new refueling tanker, Chinook transport helicopters etc, new jet-fighters developed from the original F-15 will be a completely new edition with Israeli avionics and be known as the IA F-15 (an acronym for Israel Advanced) and would include improved features, including certain stealth capabilities.
• The deal is expected to be spread out over 10 years. Last Boeing deal was 20 years ago.

Israel is considering the purchase of new F-15 fighter jets for its air force as part of the largest defense deal in Israel’s history.

Sold! US Army to protect tanks, armored vehicles with Israeli counter-measures

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. and DRS LEONARDO announced the signing of an agreement to sell the TROPHY missile defense system to the American military. The agreement is worth $193 million in its initial stage.

The Trophy active missile defense system, developed by Rafael, is designed to protect tanks and other armored vehicles from missiles, rockets, and other projectiles. The system consists of a radar detection system that identifies the launch of hostile projectiles their trajectories, and launchers that fire metal pellets which are similar to shotgun rounds. Israel’s Refael signs Iron Dome collaboration agreement with Romania

A multi-million dollar deal has been concluded between the Israeli defense systems manufacturer Refael, producer of the Iron Dome,  and Romania’s defense contractor Romaero, in Refael’s first collaboration with an EU state.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems signed Wednesday an agreement for local production of domestic air defense systems and ground systems with the Romanian company Romaero.

As part of the deal, Romaero will acquire the know-how and license for the production of air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, the naval iron dome, “Samson” model remote controlled weapons positions and precision “Spike” tactical missiles (also known as Gil). Continue Reading »

REPORT: Cancelled $500 million missile deal with India still tenable

Just prior to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming five day visit, meant to be spent with Indian PM Narendra Modi for much of the visit, the Hindustan Times reported that the Indian Army insists on the deal being completed.

A $500 million Indian purchase of 8,000 Spike antitank missiles from Israel that New Delhi canceled last week, just days before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming trip to India, may still come about through a different channel, Indian media outlets reported.

IDF’s most elite units host Indian special forces in joint training exercises

While a contingent from the Indian Air Force were participating in the Blue Flag exercise, 16 visiting Indian commandos, part of their 45-man delegation, were training with the Israeli Air Force’s elite Shaldag unit and Unit 669, the Airborne Combat, Search & Rescue Unit.

“The roles of the commandos of the two nations are similar. We carry out what others cannot do,” wing commander K. Baharat told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.

Australia upgrades military with Israel’s Trophy Defense System, Iron Dome, Spike Missiles

In the Australian Army’s plan to upgrade their armed vehicles with the latest defense systems, Israel’s defense giant Rafael has begun talks on opening factories in Australia to help provide those military needs.

As Australia overhauls its LAND 400 armored vehicles program, Israeli defense giant Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is in the running to provide its Trophy Active Protection System and SPIKE missiles to the land Down Under in deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

In order to meet the anticipated demand, Rafael will be opening a local company in Australia to jointly produce the SPIKE missiles with Australia’s Varley and will be purchasing metal for various system from Australia’s Bisalloy Steel Group, the company announced on Monday. Continue Reading »
