Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will be replaced by his deputy, Mahmoud al-Aloul, if he becomes unable to fulfill his duties, Fatah’s Central Committee decided in Ramallah on Saturday.

According to Palestinian media outlets, Fatah’s Central Committee decided that should Abbas, 82, were unable to continue in his role, al-Aloul will be appointed “acting president of Palestine for a period of three months until elections can be held.” Continue Reading »

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales in Washington DC Sunday afternoon.

Relations between Israel and Guatemala have been very warm. President Morales announced in December that he was in favor in relocating the Guatemalan embassy in Israel to Jerusalem following US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

UPDATED: 3 uniformed Israelis injured, Arab driver shot in apparent car-ramming attack

WATCH VIDEO: The driver hit his first victim outside the northern city of Acre, then continued driving towards the city’s train station where he hit the other two victims before being neutralized by security forces.

Three Israelis, two identified as Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and one a Border Police officer, were lightly injured in a suspected car-ramming attack in the northern city of Acre on Sunday.

The driver of the vehicle was shot and seriously wounded in attempts to subdue him.

Palestinian incitement in ‘car intifada’ against Israelis used in their media.

Police said that the background of the incident remains unknown, but that they were investigating the possibility that the incident was nationalistically motivated.

Argentina newspaper targeted as possible test-case of Polish Holocaust Law

The Polish League Against Defamation was the first to test Poland’s controversial Holocaust law, when it filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Argentinian daily newspaper Pagina 12, even though the article was published before the legislation was passed.

Guatemala Court rejects attempt to prevent gov’t from moving embassy to Jerusalem

The Constitutional Court of Guatemala, the highest court for civil litigation in the country, rejected the incessant pro-Palestinian rhetoric that the transfer of the country’s embassy to Jerusalem would violate international law.

Unofficial Al-Jazeera/Twitter query reflects Arabs support Israel over Iran in war

In an unofficial poll on Twitter, an Al-Jazeera media personality asked his 5 million followers in Arabic, who they’d support if war broke out between Israel and Iran. Surprisingly, it showed most Arabs supporting Israel.

In an unofficial, unscientific survey, a firm majority of respondents from across the Arab Middle East said they would back Israel in a war against Iran and its proxies in Syria.

The poll was conducted on Twitter by Faisal al-Kasim, an Al-Jazeera host who is one of the most influential TV media personalities in the Arab world.

EL AL turns to IATA to fly through Saudi airspace

Since Saudi Arabia doesn’t officially recognize Israel, granting El Al access to its air space would dramatically  indicate a diplomatic shift in its position.

Israel’s Shin Bet thwarts Temple Mount terrorist attack by Israeli Arabs

In an ISIS inspired terror-attack, 3 Arab citizens of Israel planned to open fire at one of the world’s holiest sites, Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

Three Arab citizens from the village of Um el-Fahm were indicted on Monday for plotting a terrorist attack on the Temple Mount in the name of Islamic State, the Shin Bet security agency announced.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-olds Muhammad Mas’ud Muhammad Jabarin and Imad Lutfi Muhammad Jabarin, as well as a minor, were arrested during January and February in a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police

The attack was thwarted thanks to accurate intelligence information that enabled the security forces to arrest the members of the terrorist cell before they could obtain weapons and actualize their plans. Continue Reading »

Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre closes its doors in protest

The proposals being protested by the Church is to block Jerusalem municipality’s intention to apply property tax on land used solely for commercial enterprises, and allow the State of Israel eminent domain expropriations, ending the Church’s extensive land sales in Israel’s capital by the Catholic Church & Greek Orthodox Church to private and/or foreign companies.

Christian leaders today took the rare step of closing the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, in protest of Israeli tax measures and a proposed property law.

The decision was made in protest against the bill, which is expected to be discussed today by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation, allowing the State to expropriate land that the churches have sold since 2010, as well as to protest the Municipality’s intention to collect municipal property taxes.
